IU at least Co-B1G Champs

Not really, should be a nice extension in his future. I know a lot of IU fans that would have preferred to have not won the regular season...it doesn't have the same meaning with the unbalanced schedule, but he should parlay it into COY and an extension, which may be a win for the rest of the league.

How many BTT your coach won??? does he get an extension as well?? That's two BTT in 4 yrs. for CTC

It is ironic and strange to see Purdue fans, with Matt Painter as their coach, crowing about how bad Tom Crean is (and I say this as someone who is NOT a Crean fan.)

Kinda reminds of that Seinfeld episode where that girl catches Jerry's comedy act and breaks up with him because, she says; "I can't date someone if I don't respect what they do". Jerry responds with; "But you're a cashier!"

Just weird.

Believe me, I am not a CMP fan, but it makes it a lot easier to take knowing that CTC is at IU

Gard should be and probably will.be COY. Doubtful there's any extensions this year. Crean has 4 more seasons on the current deal.

I sure hope you're right. Nice season for Crean, but until he shows consistency, he deserves nothing.

How can you not give Crean the COY this year. Dude has a 2 game lead with 2 to go. He is a lock.

So in year 8, Crean, who EVERYONE here thinks is a joke (I do too) is tied with Painter in his 11th year for sweet 16's (2), and will have 2 B1G championships compared to Painters 1 shared championship. While I think Crean is mediocre he has outperformed a mediocre Painter in less time. And even though Painter did not inherit much, Crean came into an even worse situation, which cannot be argued intelligently. Yes, IU has more name recognition, but that never stopped Stevens at Butler or Smart at VCU or Bo Ryan, etc. (good coaches). Frustrating!

Painter has a BIG Tournament Championship won in 2009, Crean has yet to win a tournament championship.

I'm not a big Crean fan either but I have to laugh at people here who want Crean to stay at IU, especially after your team just lost to him and many here said Painter was out-coached... does Crean suck and Painter just sucks more?

Unless Painter is leaving I'd think you guys would be glad to see Crean leave.

Purdue didn't win the Big last year with the easy schedule. IU did it with 2 games remaining.
I am not a big CTC fan, but he did turn this team around.
With that being said, I think Purdue could possibly tie for 2nd. That would be an amazing task as well.

he's weird & goofy, but i'll give crean & iu credit. i did not think they'd actually win the big ten this year.
better than i expected - yogi's D, bryant's contributions, and maybe Bielfeldt's play.

On the Peegs board, I went on record picking Purdue to win the B1G.

I figured your front court would be dominating and your guard play would at least be adequate enough not to mess things up.

I think the loss of Octeus was simply too much and I didn't see that coming. He made everybody better (especially Ray Davis. He and Octeus seemed to read each other's minds out there. Davis suffered mightily this year, after playing ridiculously well last season.)

So iu fans are so obsessed with competing with us, that the night when you win a conference crown you all have to rush here and post about it?

You all either need new hobbies or get back to your fry stations. Besides as you all have told us over the years, the conference crown is irrelevant.

Iu fans need to worry about keeping a coach that has to have major talent to succeed. And maybe also if iu doesn't shoot 50% or better from three any decent team is going to beat them. I hope they go deep in the tournament and keep crean forever. Just don't see it happening though.

As well B1G had them preseason number 2..you finished 1 spot over predictions. Iowa even with the current struggles are going to finish well above the preseason 9th prediction. My vote McCaffery strictly based on that alone.

And break a zone??? I'm sure Pitt, Florida, Vandy, MSU and Maryland thought the same!

CTC can recruit and coaches how to break the press.......Both shortcomings of Painter
Except that well, they arent. Painter has solid recruits and broke the press against Maryland. Slowly sure, but they did.

But the point remains, why are you here caring so much about what we think of iu? Talk about your little brother syndrome. ...

Oh, if Purdue had won the B1G it's a guarantee you'd want to see how your rivals are taking it.

I only stopped by after seeing Purdue fans excited that Crean might get an extension and I found that exceedingly strange. For obvious reasons.

I have plenty of respect for Purdue basketball and as I said earlier, I picked them to win the conference this year.

But like you loosiers told us, regular season crowns don't matter. Now stop obsessing over us and go back to the peegstye.

I understand you're not happy, but the whole "regular season crowns don't matter" thing is BS.

A total reach on your part...and you know it.

Have a good day. Good luck to Purdue in the B1G tourney and the NCAA's.

How many McD AA's and NBA lottery picks has Painter had? Crean has done the same as Painter, but with a lot more talent. I know Blackmon is out, but IU had three 5 star players in the starting lineup before he was hurt. And the other two were 4 star kids.

That's where you are wrong. With Crean at IU, Purdue has out recruited Crean with in state kids. IU has done well recruiting out of state, but you would really hurt Purdue if you were to dominate the state. If anything, Izzo has been more frustrating for Purdue fans than Crean. I'm fine with Crean at IU for as long as he wants.

Some of the goofy things Crean has done in the past have improved this year. Gave up the ridiculous switching defenses and started benching guys who didn't play defense. I think his offensive style is tough to play against. I thought before the season that either Purdue or Maryland were going to win the Big this year. IU really has poor depth and inexperience in the front court and I didn't think they could match up to Purdue or MD. I actually like the guards at Purdue. Was surprised how good Mathius was. Maryland has incredible talent. Turgeon did not do a good job with that team. Don't think Painter did a great job either.

Do you really think Purdue did well against marylands press ?

Maybe you're a young guy, plaxico. Maybe you have a selective memory. Maybe you're just a pathetic troll. I don't know, and I'm not that interested in finding out.

But, when Gene won six league titles in 12 years between '84 and '96, IU fans couldn't stop telling us that the conference champion didn't really matter because, well, it's really all about March.

Crean should get COY. Gard has done a nice job, but with a team Bo built. If you don't think Crean will try for and get and extension, your crazy. Scholarships are 4 years out, you have to have at least 5 years to sell a kid. If IU gave Wilson an extension beating up on nobody for 6 wins, Crean hit the lottery.

My friend, why exactly do you think so many IU fans want Tom Crean fired (me included)?

Because he hasn't gotten beyond the Sweet 16 in 7 years at IU, that's why.

Winning the B1G is a fine accomplishment. It's the goal, obviously, during conference play.

At IU, winning the B1G is important. Winning in the NCAA's is far more important.

That answer your question?

I'm indifferent that iu won, sorry to burst your bubble but I couldn't care less if IU wins/loses or draws because my life has more meaning than to wrap it around something as inconsequential as a game.

Exactly this. It's funny how selective their memory gets.

IU finished about where they were predicted. Iowa is going finish a potential 6-9 spots better and make the tournament all exceeding its preseason predictions. IU started the season preseason 15th...Iowa 41st.

You're an angry dude.

The NCAA tourney is the most important time for college basketball. I've enjoyed watching IU win the whole thing 3 times during my time on this planet. Greatest feeling ever when your team wins it all.

Winning the B1G is, as I have said many times to you, a fine accomplishment. Keady did a fine job in that regard. He was one helluva coach, obviously.

His Purdue teams were always fun to watch.
