There’s not enough time. But you being fixated on the cat grilling thing as being something legitimate is one. For starters. What exactly am I dumb about?

Sure it is, in so many words. You want us to base our decisions on Ukraine on what Putin SAYS he's going to do. As I said above, we could have not given any security assurances to Ukraine and Putin could still have invaded. We would have been giving exactly what he wanted. The issue isn't Moscow 'telling' us what to do. Putin said that any Warsaw Pact mnation joining NATO would be considered an act of war, and it was.
Quixote:Just for fun, let’s start posting Quixote speak:
Putin and Hitler are guys who should be respected. Just ignore all of the people they have killed over the years.
No, I want us to base our decisions on a logical risk/benefit analysis. What did we stand to gain if Ukraine joins NATO? Very little. What did we stand to lose if Ukraine joins NATO? A war that Ukraine cannot win, a destabilized Europe and a very real possibility of an even wider regional war. Don't forget that Russia has over 9,000 nuclear warheads as self-declared by SALT. If Ukraine gets the long-range missiles that they have been begging for and strikes Moscow, that war could go nuclear, at least with tactical nuclear weapons. You want us to base our decisions on Ukraine on what Putin SAYS he's going to do. As I said above, we could have not given any security assurances to Ukraine and Putin could still have invaded.
