Would Michigan be the champion? It's been a long time since a Big Ten school has won the NCAA championship.

when titles or Final Fours or whatever get vacated they don't retroactively award them to someone else, they just sit vacant.

Michigan's only small bit of vindication is knowing that Pitino's final game of his career was getting bounced by Michigan in the tourney last season.

Not to mention if the NCAA had done the right thing and vacated UNC's 2005 and/or 2009 titles due to academic fraud, Illinois and MSU were the runners up those years. I can do without Izzo having another one because I have questions about his integrity too but I wouldn't have minded seeing Weber get one in 2005.

Here's an example. The official finish for the 1980 NCAA Championship is as follows:
#1 Louisville
#2 Vacated
#3 Purdue
#4 Iowa

UCLA and Jerry Brown were found to have cheated.

Was it Larry Brown or the regime before him? I realize later we saw what Brown was capable of, but I thought the '80 vacation was for past transgressions.

It was Larry Brown.

He never took recruiting rules seriously.

Past transgressions would have resulted in forfeiture of victories during the the years those transgressions occurred, or UCLA would have been put on probation and unable to participate in the NCAA tourney.

Fab 5 recruitment was one of if not the most crooked in history of CBB!

let the record show of the 4 players that were shown by the FBI to have gotten paid by Ed Martin, Chris Webber was the only member of the Fab Five. The other 4 were never implicated. The other players were much later.

Didn't they get into an accident in a "WAY out of that kid's price range" SUV? I think they were off campus with a kid that was on an official visit which was a no-no back then.

G&B, iirc Tractor Traylor was driving. They were in or near Detroit. I believe Mateen Cleaves was a recruit on the trip.
