If IU fired Wilson

Would you be ok if Purdue hired him as OC?

LOL he was offensive coordinator at Oklahoma and you think he's going to rush to come here to be OC under a lame duck coach? (I'm presuming you're going with Hazell being back).

Yeah, right.

Yeah, I just can't see that, either; it would be an enormous step down for him. Wilson has struggled to get Indiana over the hump, but he'll have much better options.

Understanding that this is purely hypothetical because everyone knows it wouldn't happen... the answer is a resounding YES. The guy knows offense, and if that's the primary metric you use to evaluate an offensive coordinator, then he gets huge checkmark in that box.

That said, it's beyond the rumor stages that he's been doing a fair amount of drinking in Bloomington, but is he a drunk that coaches football or a football coach that turned to drinking? It is IU football after all; not sure how anyone could coach that program without going on a few benders now and again. If we're still doing the hypothetical here, you hire him regardless, and fire him if/when the situation warrants.

With respect to the hypothetical question, the answer would be yes...but, as some have already alluded to, there is zero chance of it happening, nor is it even realistic to ponder.

Wilson has succeeded with respect to what his background is/what he is good at...and, he has improved the talent base there as well. Opposed to Hazell, he has also developed relationships with coaches in the state and had some success recruiting within the state.

It came down to Purdue and IU for alignment...Purdue was fortunate to be placed in the West, IU very unfortunate to be placed in the East...Purdue has done nothing to take advantage of that literal advantage.

I am not a fan of Wilson, but, unlike Hazell, there is legitimate progress that has been made there and I would be stunned if he were fired. If it were to happen though, he would more than likely have other HC opportunities, but at a minimum, he would have some choice OC opportunities...far better ones than working for a lame duck (and arguably, just lame) HC at Purdue where there are all sorts of issues.

I'd be okay if we hired him as the Head Coach!
No Way!! We need to bring a guy in here that has a history and expectation of winning. Losing is contagious. We don't need to bring a guy in here whose team blows a 20+ point lead to a bottom rung team in the 4Q.

Kevin Wilson knows offense. Purdue has been built on offense when they have seen success. I would take him in a heartbeat if he was interested in coaching at Purdue. Give him full control of the offensive side of the ball and hire a coach who is progressive enough in his approach to allow that type of control to a coach like Kevin Wilson but he himself is a defensive minded coach with a knack for recruiting. I think Brady Hoke fits that bill quite nicely AND I think his personality fits well in with the demeanor and standard of being a Boilermaker.

the question should be, would you be ok with him being head coach, b/c as someone else stated, the guy was an OC at Oklahoma, not exactly small potatoes.

Hoke's record steadily deteriorated at MI to the point that they didn't go to a bowl in his 4th and final year. Poor recruiter? I don't know because Harbaugh has been doing pretty well with Hoke's recruits. I don't think Wilson is going anywhere but if they don't make a bowl game I could likely be wrong.

If that's who Bill Belichick wants to bring in as his OC I would be fine with it.
