If Allen is Scared of Competition from Card…

Then he’s not a true Boilermaker anyhow.

I wouldn't go that far, but I'm disappointed he didn't even give spring ball a shot. Play in the spring and see where he stands. Transferring before Card even gets on campus is like waving the white flag before competition. It isn't like he'll be starting at his new place next year (unless he transfers down, but I doubt that's his intention).

This is kinda the point I was trying to make. Card hasn’t shown much in his time at Texas. He’s still young but guys with his recruiting ranking are either busts or big time winners. All signs point to a bust for me…and that Allen doesn’t feel confident enough to compete Vs a guy who could t win a job at Texas…tells me a lot about his makeup.

You have no idea what Allen's makeup is. That's ridiculous. One kid transfers in and the other out...just because one is in purdues favor and the other isn't shouldn't be an indudcment on a kids makeup. It's recruiting in 2022.

Especially when we have no idea what happened behind the scenes. Coaches may have talked to him and told him he had little chance of ever getting to play.

I doubt this happened. Granted, they’ve seen more of him then we have but this is foolish talk for any coach towards any player at any level.

I have to believe he talked to the Brohm’s a lot. And they persuaded him to leave! He was one of the first to say he was going to stay until he said he’s leaving. I believe he wouldn’t have announced he’s leaving unless he had a guarantee somewhere else!

plus one of them is still hanging around to coach the team yet.

I'm sure the last thing Ryan Walters wants to do is tell a returning 4* QB that he wouldn't play much and should transfer. No chance that happened. Allen had to be ignorant if he didn't expect Walters to bring in at least 1 QB in the portal.

I find it very odd that a player who is the first to say he is planning on staying changes his mind 2 weeks later. Just because we added a player.

For all of your preaching about giving Walters a chance, here you are bashing Allen for no reason. You don't know what was said to him by the coaching staff. You don't know what's going thru his head. He's doing what's best for him. If we're gonna be OK with taking a transfer in Card, then we gotta be OK letting someone leave with a bit of dignity...

If I thought I was THE MAN, I would stake claim to the job I came to do. Nobody told Allen to hit the road or that he didn't have a chance to be our starting QB. Coaches want competition and the best man to win. His transferring tells you how much confidence he has in himself to win the starting QB job.

I don't think he had to tell him. He literally was recruiting a highly rated QB transfer. I think Ryan/Graham wanted a different direction of the offense and Allen really wasn't the headliner.

Different system and players. I hope the best for him, but our coaching staff is going in a different direction.

We don’t know how Walters will be as a head coach. He’s had good-pretty good results as a coordinator so yeah I’m willing to give him a chance. He’s earned one.

Allen is running from a QB battle with a guy who has less than impressive tape. If you look at Cards highlights and go “Oh shit, I’m screwed” you were never going to start a game for Purdue in the first place. It’s exactly what Brees lamented when he was talking about kids running from a challenge.

You really think it’s a coincidence that Card is coming and Allen is leaving the same day?

I'd be really surprised if he ends up at Louisville. Why join the coaches that couldn't develop you at Purdue? I just hope he doesn't end up at another B1G school.
You would think Plummer would feel the same. To me that's odd that he would consider to follow Brohm after losing his position at Purdue and to a walk-on.

No I don't think it's a coincidence. How do you know Card wasn't promised a starting role? And that Allen was told he was competing for a backup job? No way Card transfers into Purdue for a QB competition...

I am sure any head coach worth his salt would encourage competition at any position. If I were a betting man the conversation was prob along the lines of open competition & the best man wins. Portal too easy to walk away from competition.

Yes, a coach managing a 13 player basketball roster is the same as a football coach managing 85 spots. Got it n
You don't think the staff talks to the qbs about where they are after a season. Do you think it's possible that hiring a new head coach with a new oc didn't cause some thinking on every offensive player....where do I fit in this scheme....is this the best fit for me....etc. no doubt we got a qb because of fit and the scheme. Why wouldn't we lose one? If you were in bradys shoes what would you be thinking. One big reason for the new portal was because coaches can do whatever they want like brohm and kids are stuck playing for guys that didn't recruit them and in schemes that may not fit them. Brady decided it was best for him to leave. Unless he shares his reasons...nobody knows why.

Totally wrong !! Card did not come here without a promise of the job . Allen hasn’t even had a look , and would have been fighting for the backup job . And with 2 years of Card Allen would be waisting his time
