A very nice gesture by Matt and how does he keep so tuned into basketball so quickly? My nephew’s daughter reached a 1000 pt the other night. THAT very night Matt texted the following: “Kenadie, this is coach painter from Purdue. I am friends with your dad. I wanted to reach out and congratulate you on scoring 1000 points. That is cool. I am happy for you. Good luck the rest of the way!”
(Kenadie) “Thank you so much! It means the world coming from you. I wish you luck and look forward to watching your guys play! Again, you’ll probably never know what it meant getting this from you.”
(Matt)“Thank you for the kind words. You should be proud of your accomplishment. Keep it rolling! Take care.”
Her team isn’t very good and this will probably be her last year playing. It is but another example of the man leading the Boilers in basketball not only being on top of everything in Indiana basketball, but reaching out to someone with a kind gesture that has no potential benefit to a coach and yet went the extra mile to be a good guy.
@Purdue Grad in Texas. Last year you cut a portion of the IU/Purdue game at Mackey to get me a picture of my nephew behind the scorers bench to have some fun. That was her father. We (Purdue fans) are lucky to have Matt as the face of Purdue Basketball.
