Rumors has it that fleck will be the next coach. We don't know if he is waiting till after Fridays Mac championship game or if he is just being indecisive? The question is how long are they willing to wait until they decide to go with option 2 or 3? If they wait too long they miss out on somebody.

LOL - nobody good is taking this job.

Why would they?

You people are delusional.

If Fleck really wants to wait till after the MAC championship then Purdue has a decision to make. Should they wait and discuss with him or start seriously looking at plan B or C?

If he is your clear cut Plan A you wait another week. There are only so many P5 jobs open to pull from the pool of Miles, Brohm, Montgomery, Calhoun, Schiano, etc. Several of them will still be available in a week.
I would wait a week on Fleck or Miles if there is any signs of interest. But if they have declined interest I would move on and act quickly on Calhoun or whoever is the best fit in the Plan B tier.

Just silly thinking the AD will hurry up the process because a few fans are antsy. Announcing is not the same as deciding. They certainly would wait for a decision from their top choice for 2 or 3 days. One, count it, one coach has moved so far.

Yes, this hire is going to define MB2's tenure as AD. He has to get it right and not pull a Morgan.

Agree but don't want to be held hostage by Fleck just to move to Oregon or Tennessee etc...

Is like the slowest coaching cycle ever with the fewest major openings in some time. Maybe worry if Fleck or brohn get snatched up but currently who is open in the p5.

We fired Hazel to start and finish the process quickly. The longer it goes more I am thinking Fleck (not my choice). Why else the delay, wait for announcement when the overwhelming thought is they have their guy.

Only they know what is really going on behind the scene. If Fleck is interested give him a little time. If he acts like he isn't then move on. Yes, as mentioned too many good options to get bent out of shape on one.

They shouldn't have made the we will move quickly approach. Now everyone is expecting a hire today.
No kidding and I get pissed at certain media that spread rumors about Fleck being the man when they have no clue if this is true or not. Sometimes this process takes time which isn't a big deal if they didn't act like things were in place.

I don't think MBob ever said when he was going to announce the hire, unless I missed something.

The answer is zero. We don't need a coach that needs to think about this for months. A guy who took a job at Western Mich and now sits on a Purdue offer. Get real is what I say to that. I say get lost time to look elsewhere. Purdue needs a guy who is a winner and no more of this 4 year deal crap. We are not able to wait 4 years to have a resembling football team. We'll know a lot about a coach with his first team and how they play. A significant portion of salary needs put on performance. That's just the nature of this profession. If this guy doesn't appear to perform then the option to terminate after 2 years is essential.

Western Michigan plays Ohio Friday. Then I think he will announce it. Not before.

That is what I am thinking. We don't know if he is sitting on the offer or if his agent has told Purdue that nothing will be confirmed till Friday night.

If it's Fleck...or whomever.....they should not be allowed to coach in a bowl game and should be working for the Boilers immediately.

Agreed...this cannot go on forever. I am shocked an announcement has not been made yet. The current coach needs to get recruiting now and replacing this current roster. Purdue's entire roster needs replaced. The easiest way to make a team win is to put in younger players at all positions. These older players want to lick they can watch younger players replace them day 1.

glad you aren't our AD. We need to make the right move and do it well. No reason to rush this process. This week or next, or the week after that will make no difference in the end.

It will take at least 2 years to reload the team with appropriate talent. These things don't happen overnight, regardless of your millennial generation's need for instant gratification.
