How are season ticket sales going?

I agree regarding your latter statement. I don't expect a huge turnaround either. I just think it seems odd that they would come out and tell everyone that even if it were true unless they wanted to alter how people perceive Hazell. I don't think it would have looked good for them to dump the coordinators after the first year though. If Burke had them brought in, he wasn't going to fire them after one season under a brand new coach. Makes the whole lot of them look like they don't know what they're doing which is where we have ended up anyway. After year 1, you still had a bunch of boosters buying the whole "look at the mess Hope left us" BS so no need to admit anything with the new staff was wrong at that point.
Who brought them back for year 3?

I don't know your point. I'm not absolving Hazell from blame. Just saying that's what they are trying to do by putting this out there. Personally, this had to have been discussed before Hazell even accepted the position and if Hazell was uncomfortable not picking his own staff then he should've resolved it then so you can make the case it all still falls to Hazell. All I'm wondering is what the motivation is, true or not, for them to put this out there now.

I'm just hoping this whole story is wrong. It's beyond idiotic to have Mr. swim team overruling his football coach on his staff selection.

Wow, not quite sure what these coaches were thinking when they put those slides together?!!

Yeah, Sumlin didn't do this personally. As the head coach, you have to fall on the sword for this stuff but it's hard to have control over every facet of everything your coaches do.

This was obviously a bad hire since this guy has done things like this before but also when you have to pick up coaches in February, it's hard to get guys without baggage.

I do hope he gets fired and comes here. He would definitely elevate our program. Hopefully the baggage would be checked at the door though!

I am personally OUTRAGED!!! Sumlin has lost control of his program and should be terminated IMMEDIATELY!

I was on the website this morning looking into tickets for various games.

I would estimate that at least 60% (maybe more) of the non-student seats are still available for the September games, which probably gives us a good indication of where season ticket sales are.

The prime sections along the west sideline and the South end zone are mostly sold out, but plenty of tickets are still available everywhere else in the stadium (even for Iowa/homecoming). The prime sections on the east sideline are still maybe 40% available. Huge sections of the north end zone are barely touched.

Based on what I saw, I would guess that maybe 18,000-22,000 non-student season tickets have been sold so far.

Too bad Purdue doesn't play Notre Dame and Ohio State, their fans would gladly buy tickets for the game, since they are hard to get at their home games and they aren't that far away.

I would say at least 60% of the "Prime" tickets on the east sideline are available. Hard to believe no one wants to fork over $78 to watch us get poleaxed by Iowa and Wisconsin.

And here we go..."As of Monday, season ticket sales were 17,368." - article on GBI front page.

Wow.

This is even more brutal:
"JPC membership is at 6,415, per the release, up 151 from this point last year. By comparison, it was at about 9,500 in 2005 and 8,400 in 2014."

Even more brutal: bragging about moving "up to #45" in director cup standings.

Well that was Morgan's main measuring stick - I can see why he got that or promotion last year
Ugh
Living in Indy, I can tell you the AD is doing nothing to get folks from down here to go to the games.

There are IU football billboards all over the place, haven't seen one for Purdue. No ticket deals advertised, groupons, radio giveaways, nothing.

Still makes no sense: even if Burke hired both those bozos, who made the decision to bring them back for year 2? Who brought them back for year 3?

And I don't believe we are going to see some miraculous turnaround with them gone. Hazell is as big a part of the problem as anyone.

Haz is completely clueless, ball-less, or both. As HC he should have stepped in and done something. I've seen pee-wee game coaches with a better eye on the clock than Tressel light. Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot with bad clock management.

But, But Hope left a bare cupboard . . . The only thing worse than the lies themselves was that MB, DH, and their respective staffs believed in the idea that Purdue Degree holders would be fooled by the BS!

Definition of moral turpitude

  1. 1 : an act or behavior that gravely violates the moral sentiment or accepted moral standards of the community

Does not have to be sexual.

Is Moral Turpitude cause for firing in the contract? Can we still save the school 2.1 Million Dollars this year for the 1 or 2 wins we might get this year?
