Would not say that. They are going to throw a ton of money at him. God bless him if he goes 6-6 there though. However, a lot of $$$$ can make up for a lot of BS. If he wants to make the most money that he can, then he should go. If not, he should stay.

You guys don't get it. All of these coaches have huge ego's. In his mind he is thinking he is going to return Tennessee to the glory days of Phil Fullmer and be the next God of Knoxville. Which if it would happen he can name his own price from here on out. If it doesn't work out he can always go back to a smaller school and be successful. If you think you can be the best coach out there wouldn't you rather put your schemes up against the Sabans and the Malzahns of the world or against Chris Ash and DJ Durkin? Not saying he is taking the job but this is just how these coaches think. On top of that he would get 6-7 million per year in a place like Knoxville?

The outcome for UT hiring Brohm has two possibilities.

1. Brohm turns the program around and is much loved by the Vol fans/alumni.
2. Brohm does not live up to the expectations of UT and he is fired in 3-5 years.

Concerning No. 2, while Brohm can walk away with a lot of money, the stigma of consumed by the hysteria of UT can cost him a lengthy career in football coaching. Afterall, UT has not been kind to any couch lately. Ask Butch and Cuonzo.

If he does leave, Purdue will be flush with cash to hire his replacement.

One source reported it. Multiple sources just reiterated what he was saying. Jimmy Hyams was the person who first said it though. Tennessee fans are so on edge that they will get the littlest of inkling about one thing and run with it. They did it with Gruden and then Gundy last night and both ended up not going. Hopefully thats the same for Brohm. Boiler Up!

Brohm is out on the road recruiting right now and is likely not on campus right now as the team is likely either taking an extended break from practice to heal or is being led by one of the assistant coaches. Looking at a flight tracker right now probably isn't too useful since I'm not sure any one really knows where Brohm currently is.

It's been a different guy every day this week. At this point I think this is more about a bunch of hack "journalists" trying to get as many clicks as possible.

More likely Brohm would use agents to do the talking. No doubt he is out recruiting for Purdue, though that doesn't mean his agent isn't talking to the UT folks. Agents are used to avoid these sticky 1-foot-out-the-door scenarios.

For what it is worth, George Karlaftis Twitter account says Brohm is not going anywhere. Who knows?

I said it before and I'll say it again. just because a coach and an AD deny it, doesn't mean "conversations" have not taken place.

Just like with Fleck, both the AD and Fleck denied it, but many reporters claimed it was true that Purdue had reached out to Fleck.

I don't want people to worry or speculate. my point is, I believe Purdue and Fleck or his agent communicated, and nothing became of that communication, so each denied it. I'm sure the same has happened with Brohm. There are probably a dozen colleges who have contacted Brohm and said if you ever want to leave, we'd be willing to hire you. it doesn't mean it's going to happen. it just means they think enough of him to consider him for their opening.

Brohm doesn’t have an agent.

Buckeye fan here. I hope he stays because the B1G should have Purdue relevant again. And also because watching Tennessee fans flip out is priceless.

I've seen similar things posted before, but I'm not sure why. It's been reported in the past that his agent is Shawn Freibert: http://www.jconline.com/story/sport...-brohm-purdues-football-commitment/612979001/

"A call was arranged with Brohm for the next day with the help of DHR International, the search firm Purdue used in the process, and Brohm’s agent and close friend, Shawn Freibert."
That's all I've read that he does his own deal. Don't know for sure.

Saying all coaches think alike is like saying all southerners think alike.

It's speaking in stereotypes.

You want to go there?

A rich idiot. I will thank him for 2017. Feel a bit played especially if he does not give Purdue a chance to counter. And the sun will rise in the East tomorrow.

RW, if someone came along and offered you a great location, a totally dedicated audience, security for life to the point even your kids would never have to worry about a job....what would you do?

The Purdue job is not security for life? I think he has a pretty good audience here and could be here probably as long as he wants. So lets say at Purdue he can get $4 mil for 6 years. $24 million. Lets say Tennessee gives him $7 mil for 4 years $28 million. If he doesn't win the SEC he will be on his ear. A lot less pressure at Purdue where 8-4 gets you the keys to the city.

I don't follow PU at all I admit; so I don't know how your roster was when Brohm got there. However ut is threadbare at the moment. ut fans expect 10 wins every year and are tired of 6-6, 7-5, etc. Hope he's getting a good buy-out

Valid point....but there's that one big gorilla in the room....a coach's ego. Would you rather go against Allen at IU or Saban at Bama?

I would rather go against Saban at Bama once in a blue moon and take a shot in a bowl game. Not every third Saturday in October.
