Wow, no mention yet of MSU taking care of business against IU. Only Northwestern can theoretically win the outright title over Purdue now. The Boilers still have a 3-game magic number to clinch versus the Cats. If they lose to Illinois, Purdue beats IU, and Northwestern loses one game or Purdue wins one, it's over.

I know that isn't the ultimate goal, but let's get #25 wrapped up.

There was one play in the second half where JHS just gave the MSU player the Olé dunk. I thought I was watching the nba all star game.

Disappointing but is what it is. Gotta win next week and hope 12-8 is good enough for a double bye.

There was no mention because this is a Boilermaker board. :D I get it though, it has impact on our B1G Championship run, but all that matters is our next game on Saturday. Win that one and then see where things stand again. It would be great if Illinois takes care of business tomorrow vs. Northwestern!

They looked physically and mentally tired.

The Northwestern and Illinois games caught up to them.

I said I thought Indiana would handle MSU on the road. I guess I forgot my own #1 rule of late-season college basketball----the hardest games to win are against bubble teams on their own home floor. (Boilers take note---that game in Madison is going to be a brawl.)

I am surprised by how much MSU controlled the game in the second half.

Fife was on a show yesterday and said indinia was in for a long week. Basically, said they would get pummeled by msu and Purdue. Physically beat up.

And the supposed POY candidate benched for the final 3+ minutes by his grandpa…

If we win Saturday, we could have the B1G wrapped before the next game in Madison.

TJD has been running on fumes for like 2 weeks it's looked like. But I wouldn't mind him sitting Saturday. Purdue game, isn't necessarily important and I see no shot of winning it. I'd just get ready for next week's home games and try for 12-8 in conference.

I always get nervous with these kind of absolutes.

Indiana hasn't won at Mackey since 2013 and this team is tired. Purdue has a week off leading into it. I say it's a 99.9% chance of Purdue winning. ESPN has it at 76.3%.

It ain't over until it's over!
Will someone from IU have a Phinese game?
It would be nice for Illinois to beat NW and Purdue could at least be guaranteed a share of the title with a win over IU.
As a Purdue fan I've learned to be cautiously optimistic.

Phinisee had that game at AH. If the team was healthy, I'd give them a better shot in the road, but then again, this team would probably be better if they could have been healthy at any point during B1G play.

Some good thoughts, however, it’s Wednesday morning, the game is Saturday night, TJD will be fine, let’s not act like a well conditioned 23 year old can’t play 2 games a week. Wonder if Johnson tries to make a return? My guess is no and that maybe next week he logs minutes.

If the roles were reversed I can't imagine any PU fan saying sit Edey when we go to Ass Hall. That's a ridiculous take you have there. Davis isn't any more tired than any other starter in the B1G. You come to Mackey and you give it your absolute best shot. I expect nothing less from Davis and the rest of your team Saturday night.

IU will come to God's country and give it their best shot. There will be no signs of being physically and mentally tired as long as the game is close. In the second half dependent on time and score, if the game is not close and the good guys are ahead...then we may see them give up

This is another shot for TJD to compare to Zach for a good finish for second POTY. We have personally witnessed two storming of the courts when Purdue loss at Bloomington the last two years. It is obvious that doing all it can, IU wants to beat Purdue and Saturday will be no different

Playing almost 40 minutes a game and basically doing everything can take a toll.

If one was to compare player statistics between TJD and Edey on a per 40-minute basis, Edey performs at a much better level. A poster has already done this. This thread has been victimized by a non-Purdue poster putting up close statistics and arguing that the closeness indicates equality of performance between the two. That argument neglects the fact that one of the two plays more minutes to achieve fairly close results.

But to then lament poor performance because of cumulative playing time fatigue as was just done is fatuous. It undercuts the previous argument of close results which was created by the differences in minutes played.

Obviously, logic is not a forte.

What it shows is the understanding that this player is not a warrior, and you can't expect him to act like one all the time. (he is better this year, but still..)
They know what they have ;)

TJD would put Woody in a sleeper hold if he tried to bench him for this game.

I can see iu getting down big in the 1st half and packing it in.

Cats lose to Illinois and Maryland....I want them in the BTT with refs who don't have a wager on the game and know what a foul is 😃

Yep, we went through the same thing. My IU buddy was crushing me after our bad stretch. I told him that IU had one early and they'll have one late in the year....it's coming.
