Even I want Walters fired. What’s the hold up? I mean, if you’re going to do it, why wait? The only reason it’s logical to wait is if you’re going to keep him.

What’s the hold up

I'm checking out Wazzou and their coach Dickert ( 5 - 1 ) vs Hawaii, in my top 3

I can think of two reasons, but the latter is completely speculative.

Who serves as the interim coach here? It's not like they're going to replace Walters with a permanent coach midseason.

If the rumors are true that it might be possible to fire him for cause, they might be building a case.

I think the 2nd reason is more logical, if the reports are true.

I have no idea who would serve as interim coach, but does it truly matter at this point?

Need to have someone to replace him first. That may take time to put together.

just listening to the announcers last night describing our staff just sounded like we have a real Mickey Mouse operation. We fire the OC mid season, the HC who is a D guy switches to be the play caller, the OC is basically an ex H.S coach etc.
Reminds me of when Irsay made Frank Reich fire his OC, then fired Reich (the play caller) a few weeks later, and hired Jeff Saturday to be interim, but then he realized there was no one left to run the offense.

So a 30 year old analyst called the plays the rest of the season.

Some rumors on Twitter

The funny thing is searching for Ryan Walters on X, and you get 50% of the posts about the Purdue coach, and 50% of the posts about the Oklahoma Superintendent of Schools, both of whom are apparently equally in over their heads.
Yeah, they're both in bad shape.

I’m clearly not a fan of the guy but don’t think there’s anything to this.
From what I've seen, it's a bunch of clout chasers who probably don't know much more than we do. No idea how some guy with 700 followers who "covers" SEC football would know something like this.

I'm not convinced, but I think some of the stuff--not being well liked by his players--may be true.

FIRE RYAN WALTERS ! AND FIRE RYAN WALTERS TOO !!
Without facts, it's nothing but rumors. If it is true, he will be gone before the end of the season If not, it looks like we do not have another winnable game on the schedule this year and CRW should humanly be released of his duties at the end of the season.
The man has a beautiful young family and loves coaching football. Allow him to move on with no further damage to his personal life and professional career while at Purdue.
We all have differences of opinion, but we can all agree that Purdue is above the fray when it comes to turning things into an ugly administrative circus.
Lord,help our Boilers....

So are we going to start a pool for every monday on whether CRW is let go or not until he is?

I pick today by 2 PM.
The credible thing I’ve heard is he’ll be fired with cause due to lack of program control …not this whole secretary thing that seems untrue.

He’s gone.

Only formality is if we owe the buyout or not

Yeah the secretary thing is nonsense... Not having control of the program is legit and there is a TON of video evidence of it.... and commits changing their mind, people leaving for "personal reasons", getting more yards in penalties than on offense.... historic home loss.....

I could go on... but moot point now. I dislike firing people, but if it were me in CRW's shoes.. I would be like "yeah, I see it".

Then go somewhere that will help me grow in to the coach I want to be. He's young enough that he'll get hired on at a DIV 2/3 school ... learn what he needs to and then come back up the ranks.

That seems to be what Bielima was alluding to in his post game presser.....

I dont know. When you're this bad in the college ranks (especially P5), the stench usually follows you. I'm trying to think of a FBS head coach that was terrible and then resurrected his career to come back as a successful FBS head coach. Im sure its probably happened but I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

I have to believe that fire him for cause speculation came from the mouth of margie taylor greene. and there is as much truth to it as there is about the Dominin voting machines changing the ballots. Some people believe anything they see. and if they lie enough about it, people start believing it.

that rumor was probably started by a fan who didn't want to buy out Walters, so he has to make things up to reduce the buy out.

I have another idea. despite what you 20-30 die hard posters want, Maybe BOBO has a different plan. and that is to keep Walters, just to annoy you and create threads and clicks on this board.

With the CRW hiring having gone so poorly, we need a winning coach that has momentum. Our football program is dead in water and it needs a coach that has a record of rebuilding a program.
When Brohm left, his departure and prior two years of recruiting hurt our program....
In CRW, his lack of experience in various coaching and program building facets were no match for the job at hand.

Wole, you just reach a new pinochle of stupid posts........

With that info flying around the recruiting landscape, can you imagine the fuel that is creating for other coaching staffs to undermine CRW's recruitment of players....
At the end of Hazell's last recruiting class, I recall a Gold and Black article where Purdue was trying sway a Western Michigan 2 star WR in the 11th hour of the signing date..... That's what happens when everyone on the street knows more about the state of your program than the admin does.....
