Who on here thinks Grady Eifert could / should be in the rotation (not this year) but some where down the road. Every time he gets in the game, usually garbage time, he really impresses me. I was at PU when his Dad played and he was a starter/rotation player who had decent skills. Not great but a solid player. We all know his brother is a beast on the grid iron, so why not Grady with more PT, down the road? The dude can rebound, appears to have a solid down low game, and appears poised / not nervous. I really know nothing about his high school career / background and can only go by the few minutes he plays. I'd really like to see Painter give him a few more minutes of PT with ~ 5-7 minutes left when we are up by 20+ points... He won't hurt the team. Getting 60-90 seconds in garbage time, doesn't help assessing him, IMHO. Would really like to hear your thoughts on him...

He's good in the role he's in right now and for the future. We want to see Final Fours and National Titles at Purdue, not teams giving significant minutes to Johnny-Try-Hards and Mr. Hustle's that never do anything in the tournament.

Swapping out or adding new parts to this team at this point in the season isn't going to help. Fine tuning what we are already working with is the key to a long tourney run, not getting Eifert more minutes. Were we to suffer an injury to Haas or Biggie then I could see it but at this point it hasn't happened and we shouldn't go out of the way to get him more minutes based on a hypothetical situation.

If Purdue is up 20+ with biggie in double points and double boards , it would allow others and Biggie to rest their legs...I have no issue, but need to watch the score if it starts to get too close.

Showalter at Wisky I believe started as a walk on. There are others. I don't want to play a walk on for the sake of doing it, but to paint them all as you have does these hard working kids a disservice.

I'm just saying that the odds are against most players that start out as walk-ons becoming big time contributors and also I know that historically Purdue tends to have an inordinate amount of fans, alumni, or even people in the program that gravitate towards or long for that (ex: this thread's OP) (probably when they could be focusing on recruiting a better player) due to having one or two walk-on success stories in their program's history (ex: Rowinski).

If he is, that means bad things for Purdue.

I don't see it this season, but it would not surprise me to see him with a minor role next season, assuming Biggie leaves and especially if Taylor still has foot issues. He looks like a very solid athlete with a good frame and he looks like he can play basketball.

Good young man from a great Purdue family......

That being said, he already has been recruited over and may have to go back to walk-on status next year.

I love that he understands that and is all about the opportunity and team.

He defines Purdue family and team first......

No question he is not in current plans down the road as a main contributor. I do however have no issue when the game is out of reach and him getting a couple more minutes. It fires him up and makes for better practices while providing a little more leg rest for the others.

Must have been a slow day for you too, to write such a weak reply. Giving subs, even guys at the end of the bench, PT to help develop their game (when the game is completely out of reach), could potentially make a difference in an NCAA game if we are in big time foul trouble. I recall a few NCAA games over the years where our starters were in either in foul trouble and/or couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and either Keady or Painter put in a walkon to make a point... That walkon will play better with more game action. And per my original post, I was talking Grady for next year or emergency situation for now...

I think you understand what I mean, but you can choose to play dumb.
Well let's see if I am playing dumb or I am just dumb. I think you are saying is that the Purdue program has an inclination to force a low capability player into a prominent position on the team to satisfy a desire to "develop" a walk on into a star. My "?" was to imply that I either don't understand or that your concept makes no sense.
So, which is it?

Uhhhhhhhh....joking, right?

eifert is good enough that he could come in if needed due to fouls or whatever but i dont see him being part of regular rotation unless he would transform himself into mr. beach 2.0.
