I do respect IU football fans for their perseverence. After all, they havent had a career winning coach since Bo Mc Millan left in 1947.
I'm out of touch? IU consistently winning 7-9 games/yr? Especially when they play in the BIG East?
You're saying that Tom Allen is going to become IU's Joe Tiller. I'm telling you right now, this is NOT going to happen.
Brohm has a much better chance to be a winning coach at Purdue playing in the BIG West than Allen does at IU playing in the BIG East.
BTW, you mentioned Wilson beating Brohm. Did you know that Darrell Hazell beat Western Michigan's PJ Fleck? One of Hazell's 9 wins in 4 seasons. Does that make Hazell a better coach than Fleck, the current MAC darling? If IU was smart, they should have made a run at Fleck. Instead, they panicked and took Allen.
In football Purdue owns iu 72–41–6.Own? In what? You've lost 4 straight in football. Your lost the last basketball game. You are likely to beat us once or twice in basketball but like I said, that is good for IU fans and bad for Tom Crean.
Great point.Tom Allen they guy who screwed up Dick Dullaghan's dynasty at BD! Warren loves them some Tom Allen.
Not to start an argument, but here's my question for you....Allen has had two weeks to prepare for Utah, whom I think is over-rated this year. How is it that his vaunted defense allowed Joe to run for 222 yards, and catch passes for 51....almost a 300 yard game? Sorry, but I'm not impressed with his "coaching" ability anymore than I've ever been impressed with Crean from his days at Marquette to now. I said it at the time, Fred Glass screwed the pooch with this one.Purdue football fans do what they claim IU basketball fans do. They live in the past. I will be the first to admit I don't think IU basketball is an elite program anymore. In my opinion there is just as many question marks about Brohm as there is Allen. First, he has only been a head coach for three years so lets not act like he has an abundant amount of experience compared to Tom Allen. In those three years Brohm is 1-5 vs power 5 teams having only beaten a 4-8 Vanderbilt team. In those six games WKU got outscored 209-143. That is an average of 41.8 points per game. So it isn't outrageous to question the defenses under Jeff Brohm. Offensively they averaged 28.6 points per game in those 6 games. Not bad. If you look at it closer though they scored 38, 35 and 34 points against horrible defenses like IU last year, Illinois and Vanderbilt. He won't have the luxury of going against horrible defenses week in and week out in the Big Ten.
Before you say I am an IU homer the jury will still be out on Tom Allen for sure. I liked the way he coached last night. The only mistake I saw was I thought they should have spiked the ball after they completed the fourth down play. I didn't mind keeping the time out because that kept the whole field in play and you always hate having to rush a kicker out or have them run out of time before they would even get to attempt a kick. What Allen did with that defense in one year gives me great hope if he can hire the right offensive guy. Hiring Grant Heard from Ole Miss to coach wide receivers is a big plus not only in coaching ability but recruiting. Just need to continue building depth. Not having Marcus Oliver last night really hurt in stopping the running game. Although credit to Joe Williams. Kid was a stud.
Two things. Joe Williams is a great running back. His last four games he rushed for 149, 181, 172 and 332 yards. That's an average of 208 so he was only 14 yards over his last 4 game average. Second, missing Marcus Oliver really hurt the linebacker depth. Also a third thing, he just got married so was basically on his honeymoon so he had some built in mojo. Not to start an argument, but here's my question for you....Allen has had two weeks to prepare for Utah, whom I think is over-rated this year. Outcoached? IU trailed WKU 28-17 at halftime, and it wasn't Sudfeld who won the game for IU, it was Jordan Howard, who had lots of rushing yards. IU barely beat (38-35) a Conference USA team which put up over 500 yards on IU.Jeff Brohm. Who got outcoached by Kevin Wilson and has never heard of defense. Ok.
On his honeymoon....Hell man, he had to be dead tired then. Two things. Joe Williams is a great running back. His last four games he rushed for 149, 181, 172 and 332 yards. Nice cherrypicking. Is this the same Holt that his defenses are 1-5 against P5 schools while at WKU and have given up an average of 42 points per game to those P5 schools? That Nick Holt?
Yes he is. WKU had two TOs, otherwise they would have beaten IU at IU in 2015. LOLThis lol. Is he really bragging about barely beating WKU?
If you could read I was using the stats WKU played against P5 teams. You know the same teams he will be playing year in and year out now. No more Conference USA teams every week.Nice cherrypicking.
Here are the facts:
2016 (includes bowl games)
WKU
Total Defense - 368 yards/gm (37 in nation)
Scoring Defense - 24.1 ppg (39 in nation) - closer to 21 ppg before Conference Championship and Bowl
IU
Total Defense - 373 yards/gm (41 in nation)
Scoring Defense - 27.3 ppg (57 in nation)
You're beloved Tom Allen gave up more yardage and ppg than Nick Holt did this season. WKU played Alabama and IU played tOSU.

He just got married? So what? That is an unusual excuse even for IU fans. Two things. Joe Williams is a great running back. His last four games he rushed for 149, 181, 172 and 332 yards. IU also plays in the Big Ten East. And they improved from 112th in total defense to 41st. Next season, very likely to be a top 20 defense. Tom Allen can coach defense. This isn't a concern.
Where do you expect the offense will be next year versus this year?
A fan of the worst football program in the history of the NCAA accusing others of not knowing football? I'm really enjoying this thread. So let me get this straight. A guy that takes over an injury depleted roster, with one of the worst QBs in the country, and no kicking game whatsoever, a team that just went through the turmoil of a head coaching change, goes to Santa Clara and loses in basically a road game, by 2 points to a top 20 team that has won 10 bowl games in the last 11 years. And you guys think he did poorly? In his head coaching debut?
Stick to engineering guys.

That's depends on whether he can find a QB and an OC. Allen clearly is not an expert in that area. Defense and STs is his strength.
I'm done talking to you guys. Lol.
Why on earth do you think IU will improve on defense vs. this year? You're losing some experienced DLs and LBs. IU with a top-20 defense? LMAOIU also plays in the Big Ten East. You are totally delusional, but then again you are a Loosier fan, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

Any more excuses you want to make for him? Reminds me of this board for the first couple years of Hazell. Always someone else's fault.
You have to have an offense that will keep your defense off the field. IU doesn't have such a thing. As for Allen, he was a three year head coach at Ben Davis before he was replaced for going 25-12 at the premier football factory in Indiana. Not a very good resume` for being a Big Ten HC.IU also plays in the Big Ten East. And they improved from 112th in total defense to 41st. Next season, very likely to be a top 20 defense. Might want to ask Dick Dullaghan about that.He ruined BD keep in mind the first year they were 10-3 with Dullaghans system. So 15-9!!!! At BD!!!!!
Truly you have to be bad to screw up BD!
Might want to ask Dick Dullaghan about that.
Who are we losing? Ralph Green is the only graduating senior on the defense. Scales and Fant may go pro but many expect they will be back. Michigan and Penn State struggled mightily with Tom Allen's defense. Once he gets more depth, they'll be able to stay strong into the 4th quarter. They'll be fine.
Not only comments but coming to practice along with many other high school coaches last week to watch bowl prep and talk with the team.I saw the comments he made. One of the things that made Dick so great. Loyalty!
My favorite was the 76-7 Warren Central beat down they put on Coach Tom Allen's boys!
Would have been better off with Kevin Wright down here at IMG.

He's a former HS HC who seems to be emotionally unstable. You watch, IU is going to slide back down to the bottom of the BIG.
Purdue just hired a real HC (with a .750 winning %) and IU's Fred Glass panicked and hired a former HS HC. Allen has no business being the HC of a BIG program right now.
Idiot. Hazell was 16-10 at Kent State with one good (winning) season.Mmm-hmmmm.
Where have we heard all of this before?
Oh, that's right: when Margie Burke hired Derp Derp and all of you guys were going out to buy your sweater vests and adjusting the bills on your caps, proudly claiming you would dominate.
How did that work out for you?
Jeepers - all eggs in the basket guys!
