Expectations for 2019

No one here ever said that he will make $6 mil. But let's say it will be a whole better than 2-10, okay?
Curious, why does $6 mil keep popping up? Guys on Indy sports radio last night said it was a 6 year $36 mil deal at $6 mil per year. Maybe they are hearing the same “rumors” as posters on here, but these guys have access to Mitch and MBob (and actually played some past audio interviews they’ve had with them).

What football record do you expect, assuming Brohm is indeed making $6M per year?
(1) I am not assuming that is his salary
(2) His salary has no influence on my prediction for next season.

He will earn his salary (whatever it is) next year by continuing to improve the team.
Several years down the line when we see where the ceiling is, then we can talk dollars per win.

I am hoping for 9 wins, think 8 is realistic, but who knows? I think QB and o-line play is the biggest question mark. I’m making my predictions based on both being at least close to this year. If they decline, could be tough.

Really nervous about replacing the three interior OL.[/QUOTE]

Grant Hermanns will be back at LT after rehab and McCann at RT actually graded out higher than most of the OL seniors this season and he will be back too. Victor Beach is 6'5 305 LBS will take over at center and the coaches are high on him. I will be interested in who steps up in the spring at the guard positions. Maybe Brohm can find another grad transfer to plugin like he did with Shane Evans and Dennis Edwards?

Not sure I would go as high as 8 wins next year. Comming from where PU was it takes time. I don’t care who the coach is it’s going to take 4 years to get to where we want to be. It looks like PU has broke friction and is up and moving need to keep adding momentum year after year. Kind of like a train.

I’m assuming Mendez gets the LG spot.

Washington has gotten some praise, so he could be the RG, or be the RT and move McCann back inside.

Just wonder how Stickford, Bramel, Miller, McKenna etc all fit in.

I always thought Stickford would be a good right tackle. Bramel a tackle and Miller a OG. Not sure what McKenna plays

I'd say considering the schedule, 7-5 is the worst and 10-2 is the best scenario in my prediction. Most likely would be 8-4.

My expectations for next season are not tied to coach salary. They are based on player experience/talent at various positions or position groups. I have no idea how to assess until we know the capabilities of the o-line. Without that knowledge i’ll Make a wild guess anyway and say 8-4 regular season.

I think McCann moves back to rt. Williams likes him there better

Mendez is likely.

No clue at rt. Potted plant?

Potted Plant still graded out higher than Devin Smith

Would have been helpful to include the 2019 schedule plus the records of those teams from 2018:
@ Nevada (7-5): W
Vandy (6-6): W
TCU (6-6): W
Minnesota (6-6): W
@ Penn State (9-3): L
Maryland (5-7): W
@ Iowa (8-4): L (Toss Up)
Illinois (4-8): W
Nebraska (4-8): L (Toss Up)
@ Northwestern (8-4): W
@ Wisconsin (7-5): L
Indiana (5-7): W
------------------------------------
Total: 8-4 (real chance at 10-2 IMO)

Key is that Purdue only faces two teams with more than 8 wins but will face 8 teams that are bowl eligible this season.

I'll go with 9-3 --- losses to PSU, TCU and Wisky.

Be in the B1G Champ game year after next...

Why do people care what the head coach makes? It really doesn't matter, particularly at Purdue where there is plenty of money from the BTN contract alone to justify about any salary. Get over it. Nobody should care. While he may be a state employee technically, in reality, he's an AD employee paid from a non-taxpayer source.

With players he's coached for three years, three years of his recruits, a top 25 class if it really is....no less than 8 should ever be acceptable. No one should ever play for second place. If Purdue and IU are once again playing for a 6-6 record and a minor league bowl, maybe he should man up and give his salary back.

McKenna should be starting next year. I am very high on him. Should be at a minimum a 3 year starter. He has so much potential.

I'll make this simple.

One, I don't give a fat rat's @ss what someone makes. Do the job.

Two, I expect consistent, measurable progress. For '19, finish the regular season with a winning record, and another highly-rated (top 25?) recruiting class. Do that, and he's doing the job. For '20, the W/L expectation increases.
