SEC Commish Sankey feels their teams are being punished for playing tough schedules, and I agree. ND plays ACC cupcakes, MAC schools and service academies every week yet they are ranked ahead of UGA, Bama, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Expect to see four autobids for the SEC and Big Ten next year.

Frankly I don't care if SEC or Big Ten teams get left out. That's why we play a conference season, to determine the best teams from each conference. Of those two conferences want to stack their conferences with all the big brands for money, so be it. But each conference should be limited to at most two teams. That won't happen because it's just a money grab but I don't need to see a bunch of conference games in the playoffs. The season should be telling us who the top teams are in each conference. Format should be....

8 teams
Each conference champion from major conference.
Top ranking team from outside major conference (ND included here).
Remaining at large according to computer formula with no more than one of these from a given conference.

Four from the SEC and/or Big Ten is assinine. Let these absurdly large conference figure out how to determine their best teams.

Why should the ncaa just bow down to the sec and big 10? Other than for greed! We’re big and powerful so we dictate how the rest of college football should be run.

The ncaa should develop and strengthen its backbone and create a tournament of champions. Every conference champion participates. And that’s it. If you finish second, tough luck and too bad. Maybe next year.

With this concept maybe all these bandwagon teams in search of money will go back to their old conferences.

Sure there will be less revenue. That means there would be less revenue to give to student athletes. Maybe these athletes will learn the true value of their scholarship and what it means to be a student first and athlete second. Do we really need athletes making $1 million to enjoy an afternoon of college football?

Just bring out the sun and bring out the band and let’s play ball.

Does anyone truly believe there will EVER be a CFB playoff solution that satisfies everyone?
Just like March Madness that had only 23 teams in 1965 to 68 teams and two play in games currently. It never satisfies anyone and never will. I am guessing by next year the CFB will be 24 teams with 4 teams each for the P4 conferences and then the highest ranked teams left over for the last 8 teams. But wasn't that the theory of going to 12 teams?

This.

What's unspoken about all this is how much $$ and clickbait interest is generated by the assorted Mensas who live to critique and advocate for "tweaks" to the system!

The majority of outrage is coming from SEC and ESPN folks. I can guarantee if Indiana had Michigan's helmets they wouldn't care and Indiana would be #2.

What proof do we have that the SEC is a “tough” schedule when they refuse to play Power conference road games & constantly have a losing bowl record for their non-playoff teams..?

It will all come out in the wash on Saturday.

As long as IU doesn’t get Waltered, they’re in.
That is what I am hoping for. A close game. Beat the spread and you're in good shape.

Now as an IU fan, I'm 31. I've seen like 3 winning seasons in my life. Even if we don't make the playoff and we are 11-1 heading into a bowl game, I will be beyond excited still because who knows if this will ever happen again. Quite possibly a once in a lifetime thing.

Since you are 31 and I am 72 yr old IU alum/fan that would seem that I should have 4? more winning seasons than you? I guess I have to figure that out. For Purdue youngsters reading this ... in November 1967, Purdue had the lead late in the bucket game and fumbled on IU's 2? yard line, IU went on to win the game and go to the '68 Rose Bowl. I have the original Indy Star in my memorabilia that shows that fumble stop action in the air ... plus Purdue was wearing what I think was their best uniforms ever since I am a uniform junkie ... "old gold" helmet and pants, white jersey with the old gold strip surrounded by two black stripes on the shoulder. The uniform number was on each side of your helmets.

I don't care about playoffs. Until we rid ourselves of Bobinski and Walters nothing else about college football has any need for discussion.
