Noticed that she wasn't on the bench last night and planned to follow up with Sharon Versyp today. Will still follow up, but now we know the reason why.

From Purdue ...

Sophomore forward Erica Moore has decided to transfer from the Purdue women’s basketball program, officially leaving the team Wednesday. The 6-foot-2, Fortville, Indiana, native appeared in 17 games over the last two seasons for the Boilermakers, averaging 3.6 minutes per game.

“We wish Erica the best of luck in her future endeavors, academically and athletically, and thank her for all the hard work over the past two seasons,” said Versyp in the release.

Moore had appeared in five of the Boilermakers’ six games before her departure this season, averaging 1.4 points and 0.8 rebounds in 3.6 minutes per game.

I think there are more transfers in WBB than in men's, but that is an unsubstantiated theory on my part. I do think the academics at Purdue are a challenge for many of the kids from inner city schools. This has driven some transfers in the past. I do think the Utah girl was just too far from home, but there have been several kids jumping ship.

I think there are more transfers in WBB than in men's, .

With the women having 15 scholarships available and the men only 13, it would be possible for the women to have more deep bench players looking for more playing time. I am not sure, however, that the additional scholarships have anything to do with the transfers from Purdue. It is my opinion that commitment and loyalty are not strong values among some of today's athletes -- male or female.
