If BIG officials took control and called it the way it should right from the start teams like rutgers would dial it back a bit. But when they don’t we end up with a ufc event like today.
They let it get out of hand. Who knows why? Maybe they were told to?
Pikiell said if at half time. Rutgers was going to go back to being physical regardless of the foul calls. It’s a rare official who is willing to keep calling the game correctly when a team decides to dare them to.
This is one reason why no NC since 2000. Most big time players want a more free flowing game. The bump and thump we see all year is hard to adjust out of in the NCAA tourney.
The announcers had the B1G Commissioner on at half time. I really wish they had asked him some tough questons about the officiating. Instead, he talked about how proud he was of his social justice record.

This WWE is not basketball. Hard time watching it. Needs to be fixed.
B10 basketball is not really basketball, rough & tumble physical bully ball....and few of the very good players are attracted to that type of play. Talent goes elsewhere and so do championships. It's been a heck of a drought in the B10 like you point out.
Hopefully, coaches see it as an issue & address referring with the new commish in the off season.
