I like Cline but since Painter made the switch he hasn't done anything offensively. At the end of the day we have to score points; Carsen is someone that can do that.
Haas also needs more than 15 minutes a game

Been saying this since Painter made the switch. Cline brings nothing to the floor other than a 3 pt shot and he hasn't even been very consistent at that. He's poor defensively and really hurts the flow of the offense because with him, Mathias and PJ on the floor, you have 3 spot up shooters and no creators or anyone to score on the break.

Agree on Haas. I think sitting Carson was to give him a message. He played great off the bench against Michigan. Kind of like sitting Vince...I bet Carson starts next game.
The unknown is how practices have gone. Based on CE's last game, he deserves a consideration and the message has been sent. It may even be time to send the message to Cline. Again, without knowledge of their play in practice, it is a mute guess. I agree that we need the diversity and unknown aspects to our O that CE brings.

I'd like to see some +/- stats on when Haas is in vs out before making that determination. Based on the last game, probably, based on his B1G body of work, not so sure.

Cline was huge at the end of Penn State and Carsen had been struggling so I'm ok with the change. I think our best lineup has Carsen in it but it also could have been to spark the second unit a little bit. I honestly don't understand everyone saying Haas needs more minutes. He played great offensively last game but that was the first time in awhile. Not to mention every one of their bigs can shoot the three and Haas struggles defending the pick and roll. Then there's the turnovers. He was great offensively against Michigan and you can certainly make the argument he should have gotten more minutes that game, but in general I think our best lineup has him on the bench.

I believe we were playing better as a team when Carsen was starting. It was unusual for MP to change the lineup coming off of a win as he did. I expect CE to start in the dance.

I feel the time for sending a message has elapsed as the season is one and done now. Having 3 guards on the floor who can't penetrate nor create their own shot seems like a good recipe to dig yourselves into a nice early deficit

I don't disagree, but the message that "who works the hardest when on the floor will play" is a message that it is never too late to send.

True but the key difference was that Michigan wasn't really doubling down on the big men so there was no reason to kick it out. If we play a team that chooses to bring the double and dare us to shoot the three then I wouldn't mind having multiple shooters in the line up.

Haven't looked at the stats but I think CE is as much of a 3pt threat as Cline.
We haven't hard a guard like CE in a really long time, I hope Painter doesn't screw this up.

Purdue had won 9 of 10 before the change in the starting lineup. Since the change Purdue is 2-2 and hasn't looked good in the two wins. Cline is averaging 3 more minutes per game, his scoring and 3 point % have been cut in half since the change. And to add to the silliness of it Carsen usually comes in with Haas. Cline is better playing with Haas and Carsen with Biggie at the 5.

If the change was made for discipline reasons I will bite my tounge, if it was because Painter thought it was the right move I completely disagree.

Cline is shooting 41.6% compared to 35.6% for Carson. It does feel though that Carson hits shots that seem to be more meaningful and thus feels as if he is shooting about the same as Cline....Was kind of surprised with the disparity.

that is true...a change if it comes usually takes place after a loss

We shall know more this weekend. not about why but about the results of the move.

If he plays as he did against MI .. regardless of starting or not ... that would mean to me that it worked.

Wow, colored me pleasantly surprised ... .thanks!

These are the points scored vs scored against while he is in? right?
My guess is the data you are seeing is unable to sort out the interactions of the players on Purdue at the same time with the opponents at this time. That said, I think Purdue needs Haas adn there have been times I wanted to see all three bigs for just a few minutes...knowing how the minutes must be shared for subs etc. I enjoy various statistics, but coaches help create the data...it is just not on the players independent of other players, particular roles being played, and the match-up of the opponents.

I agree. I just expected that his turnovers and missed shots would have contributed to more scores against. Most of these numbers are really high.
