Curious if it's a part of their job. But then too, if you got it "wrong" on the floor in the moment, maybe you can't see it differently in review. ??

Yes. Some even do it at half time. I believe DJ started doing that. He has improved. Others are not as serious.
They are supposed to review the teams they are reffing ahead of the game. Helps them see tendencies and understand the flow.
Should the league review games after and make decisions to stop using refs because of terrible calls? 100%. Do they? Absolutely not.
The B1G won’t win a NCAA title until we start demanding the best refs for our games, especially the elite of the conference.

I don’t think I understand why the refs matter if the big ten continues to put teams in the F4 and NC?
The B1G has either had the 2nd most teams in the F4 since 2000…or at least close to it.
Except for that random year Baylor won, KU is the only big 12 team to win the whole thing from the big12 since 1946…
High quality refs put a stop to the rugby style of basketball we see in conference. They control the game so it doesn’t become a foul fest where they swallow their whistles because they don’t want to foul out the starting lineup. We see Izzo, Gard and Collins all crying and daring the refs to foul everyone out. A championship level ref ignores that and calls it black and white.
the refs in the iu - UCLA game called a pretty clean game. they weren't falling for the crazy off balance shot and the guy goes to the floor foul

sometimes I think they call a game as told to, last night it was really late in the one half and both teams each had 3 fouls, one of the best called games I've seen

do you want good refs or favorable one sided refs ? every time i read this, i keep seeing purdue posters pointing fingers at bad refs as the reason they lost. the refs are not any better or worse than they were for the last 30 years. it's time for Purdue fans to start realizing and accepting what refs call and start game planning accordingly. you knewwho the refs would be and the type of game they would call before the game started. In baseball, tony Gwynn and wade boggs studied the umpires. they knew the strike zone the umpire would establish and the played accordingly. that's why they wereso successful.

Sour grapes for me today. This was the worst officiated game against Purdue all season. Purdue was called for 21 fouls and several were phantom calls. I saw the replays and just didn’t see any contact or very minimal on a few.
Tired on defense with a poorly officiated game was their downfall today.
Haha yeah. Klesmit has always done his antics of flopping and baiting the refs. Refs weren’t why we lost though. Saw Wisconsin scored on 29 of 34 possessions in the second half.
Michigan game was worse and I feel that really impacted the team today. They came out playing not to lose and just looked off all game. Heard the energy in Mackey was off too.
The fouls didn’t lose us the game as we couldn’t guard. Wisconsin scored on 29 of 34 in the second half. The fouls though, did not allow Purdue to get ANY momentum in the second half though. 2 phantom calls on Myles and 2 very bad ones on first when he had position and Klesmit just “tripped”/fell to the ground since he had nowhere to go.

Badgers jumped to 8th in overall KenPom ratings, 6th in offensive efficiency. Boilers - 9th overall, fell to 41st defensively after that omelet.

Wasn’t blaming them for our loss - can’t get into that stupid game. This team needs some folks to do some soul searching.
I know some do some, but most of these guys work 5-6 games a week and with travel where is the time to do this?
Braden looked exhausted. Not sure if not much rest during games has finally caught up or he had whatever has been going around but he didn’t seem himself, even if he had 12 assists to 1 TO (amazing). Something just seemed…off with him.

Completely agree that Wisky deserved to win but that fat turd got a number of whistles that I thought should have been no calls.
I've always hated the way that Klesmit played. I can't stand a guy that flops and fakes like he's been fouled. I remember Ty Jerome playing that way the entire game against Purdue in the elite eight in 2019 and I still can't stand him to this day. 😆
Travel time would seem the answer. I guess the specific question is: does the LEAGUE require officials review their game films.

The reality is that one team is adversely affected every single game more than the other team.. It would be a myth in life to think that outcomes should be 50-50 and a mathematical impossibility to think that doesn't happen. Now that does NOT mean the effect of the refs are a major reason why a team wins and the other team loses, but to believe that refs do not have an effect on the game is simply not true, but as I said the effect may not be large enough to swing a game. In every game there are many variables in play from the physical and mental state of all the players playing, the mental state of the coaches (physical if tired or sick), the shooting backgrounds, basketball, gyms, crowd proximity and referees.
Years ago Knight was asked about going to three refs from two and he thought it would be worse. Years ago there were two different sources of variation (2 refs) today we have 50% more sources of variation with three refs and with the shot clock you now have more things going on in a matter of seconds where that 50% more variation has a greater affect on the calls made or not made. Every game the refs are in play. You just hope their effect is little as do they...
I'm fine with bad reffing, I just want them to be equally bad on both ends.
I'm not fine, but consistent calling goes a long ways to being better. Course now you have three different people making a judgement in different areas of the court and then rotating to different areas of the court for a different look. I was shocked the push offs that took place right in front of the Purdue bench with full arm extension with the ref right there (in his spot) and not making a call. I don't want "different kinds of bad reffing", but bad reffing on the same violations is much better.
I was there in 102. Mackey was plenty loud but Wisconsin hit everything they threw up in the 2nd half and kept the momentum. So disappointing.
I watched the game last night and even though I fast forwarded every place I could, Kim reminded me that it took so long due to me rewatching quite a few things...and explaining to her a couple of things I wish Purdue would do differently.
1) quit automatically switching when a bigger player is setting a screen for a much smaller perimeter player. This results in a smaller player defending a big in the lane and a bigger player defending a guard on the perimeter...neither an advantage to Purdue...all in fear of a three ball that could still be defended well versus 2pts at a much higher clip in the lane. Course some of that is to try to keep a player from driving the ball by keeping a body in front of the perimeter player, but he just drives anyway on Purdue's bigger player.
2) Wisconsin hedge by the bigs stayed with Braden as the other for defenders kept eyes on Braden and defended the lane more than usual. I wish Braden would clip the body of the Big "moving" in the hedge as he is moving and sell it to the refs. Some early fouls on the opposition bigs would soften up that D approach. Normally Braden goes wide and pulls the "TWO" out to open the short roll for Trey, but the Wisconsin Big was the only defender on Braden, as the rest were closer to the lane.
3) the defensive approach Purdue has been using on out of bounds under their basket was clearly scouted resulting in giving Wisconsin 4 easy points at the rim.
4) slept last night and head has went blank. Only getting 5.25 hours of sleep for a few months now and hopefully that goes away in another month.
FWIW, I actually felt better about the game after rewatching it. The calls made as well as the calls not made were just as bad as in person. That didn't change from live to a couple of days knowing the results on TV. I tend to believe what I was seeing was more of a matador defense in some drives due to the previous calls taking an effect in the players for fear of an anticipated call that sent them to the line where they have been very good, Tonight is big and IU maybe tougher to beat...

I have a theory...it seems to hold true. The B1G doesn't want a single team to dominate the league for extended periods of time like Purdue has done, so they tweak our schedule to give us only AWAY games against the top teams. Then they give those teams more rest before they play us. It's been established that we play teams that average a full day's more rest than the rest of the league. The teams on our schedule are all coming in on a day's more rest than when they play other teams.
The boys were like "whatever" and they kept powering through and stacking wins. When we moved into first in the B1G, that's when you saw us start to get worked by the refs. I don't think it's a coincidence. The Michigan game was a travesty. Wisconsin wasn't much better.
Dude put his hand right in Loyer's chest and shoved him 5 feet back, directly in front of a ref. The ref gave Matt Painter an FU look when he complained. This league is rigged.
