Gard is also one hell of a coach.Wisconsin was in a world of hurt after most of the team left . Gard was taking a chance on anyone just got lucky with a couple of players

He could also stay here and never have to work againSmith could transfer next year and never have to work again.
LMAO. That’s a good one.Gard is also one hell of a coach.
he got lucky with tonje and not sure Amos is “him getting lucky” as he doesn’t contribute much. The rest of his current team (besides the incoming Frosh) all played on his team last year, did they not?Wisconsin was in a world of hurt after most of the team left . pretty much, Chucky and Essigian left w/ I think 2 bench playershe got lucky with tonje and not sure Amos is “him getting lucky” as he doesn’t contribute much. The rest of his current team (besides the incoming Frosh) all played on his team last year, did they not?

Chucky was a shock and Storr has been at a diff school every year since high school and was looking for the $$$.pretty much, Chucky and Essigian left w/ I think 2 bench players
I hear ya, it's hard for kids to be consistent by playing inconsistent minutes, look at TKR this yearChucky was a shock and Storr has been at a diff school every year since high school and was looking for the $$$.
Essegian played 7 min per game and went from 35% to 30% from 3 (from frosh to soph) and that’s all he could do…awful on defense (and still is). Some here would say he regressed and that he couldn’t play at the B1G level. But what’s crazy is that he’s at 10.5 ppg, shooting 40% from 3 in 22mins off the bench at Nebraska…in the B1G. Wild that players can improve from year to year, especially when they get decent minutes and shots are manufactured for them!
Ding ding dinggggg.I hear ya, it's hard for kids to be consistent by playing inconsistent minutes, look at TKR this year
plus their 1st year was mostly feeding Edey and rightfully so but it didn't do much for their progressDing ding dinggggg.
Heide and Colvin are 6/13 from 3 last 3 games. Heide got into some rhythm last night and hit shots. Myles did the same vs Wisconsin. They are 2nd year players that are the 5th and 6th and maybe even 7th scoring options.
Their roles have changed all throughout the year. Maybe it’ll be a bit easier to know what to expect for next year, if they know their role(s) better.
yep. We can look at essegian as (small sample size) an example. He played great Frosh year. Played not at all and “regressed” (how others have described Heide and Colvin) his soph year.plus their 1st year was mostly feeding Edey and rightfully so but it didn't do much for their progress
he made a good move for himself but he's a defensive liabilityyep. We can look at essegian as (small sample size) an example. He played great Frosh year. Played not at all and “regressed” (how others have described Heide and Colvin) his soph year.
But look at him now. Doing pretty well.
It’d be interesting to see shooting % and other stats for all sophomores this year from their Frosh year to sophomore year that play less than 20 mins a game and shoot 3-5 shots per game.
Absolutely. But just saying, he went from 35% from 3 to 30% and went from 27 min a game down to 7 min a game. Now he’s at 40% from 3 at 22 min a game.he made a good move for himself but he's a defensive liability
Not in his blood. He loves the game and why we saw another jump from last year unlike some. Dad, granddad...don't think they ever have too much basketball. He could also stay here and never have to work again
TJ, they are talking about him making enough money by staying at PU he wouldn't have to work again (like a real job). Not in his blood. He loves the game and why we saw another jump from last year unlike some. Dad, granddad...don't think they ever have too much basketball.

True...read too fast...had over 21 reactions I needed to go through in case someone had a question in what I wrote and read too fast. Between last night and doing some tax work today...I'm drained. It is true though that he lived in the gym, but not have to work like all in this forum.TJ, they are talking about him making enough money by staying at PU he wouldn't have to work again (like a real job).
I wonder if their numbers look any different before the first of the year, versus after they were “benched”. That obviously won’t help ones confidence, to get inserted into the starting lineup, then get pulled. If anyone would find this interesting.... (data may be delayed by a game or two)
There are 211 sophomores that have played in 20+ games, play less than 20 min a game and take 5 or less shots a game. Of those 211, 20 players have 30+ 3PA and are 30%+ from 3. Heide is 18th and Colvin is 20th. The player in 10th is at ~36%, which is a difference of Colvin making ~5 more 3s and Heide making ~2 more. Colvin has the most attempts, while Heide had the 6th most. Colvin had 4th most 3PM (3 off from leader) and Heide was tied at 10th for 3PM.
For 3P%, number 1 is Marvin McGhee IV from CS Bakersfield at ~50% on 57 attempts. Besides our two, the only other big name schools with players are Providence (Rich Barron), Marquette (Zaide Lowery), New Mexico (Braden Appelhans), Georgetown (Curtis Williams Jr.) and Rutgers (Jamichael Davis). The rest are a lot smaller schools.
Just wanted to compare them to other sophomores fitting similar criteria as them and see where they stack up.
Yeah no doubt. I also think it’s tough to get into a flow. As a starter you get to play the first 5-8 min and get into the game. As a sixth or seventh guy you may not go in until under 10 min. You’re a bit cold and need to get into the flow of things and (in this case) may only get a chance at one shot attempt the whole half. And it may be 4 minutes (of game time) after you go in.I wonder if their numbers look any different before the first of the year, versus after they were “benched”. That obviously won’t help ones confidence, to get inserted into the starting lineup, then get pulled.
