Did CJB tell Tennessee to pound sand?

I haven't heard anything on the Brohm/Tennessee meeting, but from the news I am seeing regarding Mike Gundy, it would seem Coach Brohm told them to get bent.

His legend status just went up a notch in my book.

I am a huge Brohm fan, but Gundy has a much better resume. Regardless, he is a better candidate than Schiano, which makes this whole UT saga seem surreal.

Chad Morris at SMU may be next. Sounds like Vols boosters are willing to pony up to pay off any buyouts, including Brohm's.

But they were hired by other schools, and they did enjoy some success at their new school

Article in this morning's Chattanooga paper says UT is now moving on to Brohm, Tee Martin, and a couple others after Gundy turned down their $7 million offer.

SMU Coach, Chad Morris is the current leader in the clubhouse. Kind of an odd fit at UT as I see him as a "Texas" guy. Same thing with Joe Moorhead going to Mississippi State as a Northeasterner. Good coaches, but a bit out of their element.

How do you know he’s the leader?

Very surprised that if they are willing to pony up $7.5 million a year for a Head Coach why they haven't contacted ND's Brian Kelly and his new O&D Coordinators!

I'm sure our AD has taken notice to Moorhead's change , also Moorhead wants Mich's Don Brown for the DC job.

Someone on the Volquest page is saying we've offered Brohm. There's conflicting information on whether or not we've even talked to Morris.

All are basketball except Snyder from K-State.

Wolegib is lost again.
Why am I lost again? Just because I stated those coaches had success at different schools after they turned 60? Isn't that the premise of this thread? You're talking about successful coaches who took on a new job after age 60! Bobby knight is a perfect example! So what if he's not a football coach! I believe the point was that being over 60 should not be a deterrent in a person starting a new job! You probably voted for an over 60 actor to change jobs and become President!

Snyder didn't change schools after 60. He took the K-State job at 50 and retired at 66 and came back to K-State at 70 and is still coaching there. He has only been a HC at one school.

And the rest were hoops coaches. WAY different. Less heavy lifting to turn around a program.

My assumption is if Brohm had declined our offer, Moorhead was our #2 choice ultimately with maybe a Spack as a 3rd/4th option. We will probably never know.

The problem, hypothetical, is that if Brohm were to leave now I don't think the staff has enough continuity to say promote "Coach A" from within. Everyone is still a bit of an unknown commodity. If Brohm were to leave in 2-3 years I think would be easier to say promote "Coach A" or "Coach B" as we know them, they know us, etc.

I posted this on another thread but I'll put it here as well.

From what I've heard he already turned them down the other day... and even told players that he told the Vols no. That's from a reliable source, a parent of a player. But would love to hear it from the horse's mouth or Purdue with a contract raise or something to put these rumors to rest lol. You never know but I'm pretty optimistic

I think Brohm has too much integrity to come out and say he turned down UT. He will simply go about his business after politely declining his offer.

Brohm isn't leaving, that situation is a dumpster fire. Notice no big names are jumping at the chance to take over there.
Now if Petrino jumps ship which is very likely over the next 2-3 years, I will be concerned. Louisville will essentially hand over the city key to him and give him a blank check.

If Brohm goes to UT, the vast majority of his staff will be singing "Once upon ol' Rocky Top...."

He doesn't need to publicly state anything. The likelihood is that he's already told the majority of those recruits privately one way or another if he's seriously thinking about leaving. Brohm is playing his cards right either way. Reality is he got hired at Purdue with a resume from WKU that did not exhibit any proof that he would be able to compete at a high level at a power 5 school. Now he's proven that he can (at a program that only won 9 games over the past 4 seasons at that), and his market value is higher. If anything he plays it close to vest regardless of his interest level and at worst, works to renegotiate his contract with Bobinski to get a bigger payday for himself and the staff. Sound familiar? It's basically similar to the scenario of Painter to Mizzou.

Not sure he wouldn't prefer UT, and if his recruits are good enough to play in the SEC, many of them would flip and follow him to Knoxville. If he's even slightly interested, he's recruiting for two schools at the same time.
