Football Recruiting Remains Consistent
If there is one thing that is certain, all of these offers are hard to track. Whether it is the transfer portal or High school prospects. @DubJellison and I do our best, but some get lost here or there.Purdue is fully invested in the evaluation period right now, where they can start visiting schools again to see prospects, this started about two weeks ago. With Spring Ball now officially over, expect the coaches to be back on the road getting into high schools. In fact, Graham Harrell was at the school I coach at yesterday. Talking to our Offensive Lineman, C.J. Zeltwanger.
It was expected for Texas Running Back, Christian Womack (class of 2023) to get on campus last weekend, but that visit has been moved to this weekend apparently. He also picked up another FBS offer after Purdue gave him one from Cal. Now, his under-the-radar recruitment becomes a little more competitive, I still like Purdue's chances with the speedster.
Expect 3* athlete, Jaheim Merriweather to commit today. He is a class of 2024 prospect and is being recruited as a running back. Purdue is also playing host to 2023 quarterback, Jake Wilson. He will be a PWO at Purdue, more than likely. He was a great high school quarterback, But, I am not totally comfortable with the quarterback room right now. If Hudson Card goes down, who does Harrell turn to? True freshman Ryan Browne and Kyle Adams (former West Lafayette QB and JMU Transfer) are the obvious options.
A 2023 prospect that was a mid-year enrollee at Ole Miss is in the portal. 4-star cornerback Braxton Myers, he has been at Ole Miss for the first four months of his college career. He is on campus for an official visit and there is reason to believe he may commit, he is technically a "transfer" but would be a true freshman.
Look for a big June as Purdue is hosting their camps in the early weeks of the month. These have been fruitful in years past.
Football Transfer Portal Closes Soon
The transfer portal is set to close on Sunday at 11:59 PM. Purdue has seen 11 players commit since the staff arrived in December via the portal and they are not yet done. Remember in the summer, Purdue can still recruit players in the portal - as well as grad transfers. This week alone, Purdue saw a handful of players enter the portal. Brady Allen, Charlie Kenrich, Jah'von Grigsby, Eric Miller, Tee Denson, and Kentrell Marks all entered this week. Truthfully the only surprise was starting offensive tackle, Eric Miller. Miller will head to Louisville and reunite with Jeff Brohm and his former roommate, Jack Plummer.
Brady Allen had his evaluation, I was told he is a solid quarterback but does not totally fit the mold the new staff is looking for. That... and he was a little upset that Purdue hosted Chance Nolan of Oregon State last weekend to be the backup quarterback. Nolan is headed to TCU, so that is all moot now, but worth noting. Allen visited Ole Miss last time around. He will stay in the portal this time, as I don't believe Purdue will recruit him to remain on roster.
Purdue is still after D2 and 7th-year player, Shon Stephens. They are still waiting on a waiver for him. But, since last week, Deion Sanders and Colorado have entered the conversation for his services, as Deion looks to replace 50 some odd players in Boulder.
Purdue did offer the Colorado Offensive Lineman that is in the portal, Jake Wiley, as well as their wide receiver, Montana Lemonious-Craig. Expect Myles Rowser to be on campus this weekend, he played with Deion Burks in High School. Offers are still out to several offensive linemen, including Jaden Muskrat from Tulsa and Trevonte Sylvester from Houston.
Another Ole Miss cornerback is on the radar for Coach Walters as well, Markevious Brown, who would have 3 years left of eligibility.
Purdue secured a high-profile transfer product this week in Jeffrey M'Ba, the former Auburn player who was once ranked the #1 JUCO prospect. At 6-6, 310 pounds he is a giant human, with a giant personality. He was great to talk to the other day.
Expect JUCO Cornerback, Botros Alisandro to commit soon. He is a long and lanky cornerback that fits the mold Walters loves.
It went under the radar some, but Purdue did get a long snapper to commit, Daniel Hawthorne from Mizzou. Yes Purdue went to the portal for a long snapper, he will be a PWO. Jahmal Edrine committed last week, he has three years remaining and is a wide receiver transfer from FAU.

Basketball Recruiting
You may have missed it, but Purdue sent an offer out to 2025 German Big Man, Eric Reibe, who is a tough comp to anyone on the roster. He flashes some perimeter skills, decent vision, but thrives on the boards and inside the paint. There's some Hunter Dickinson to his game.
As the 2024 class now is the focal point of recruiting for Coach Painter, look for him to add to Kanon Catchings and Jack Benter, obviously. It definitely is a class that needs a point guard and probably a big man.
We have mentioned him a few times, but keep an eye on Raleigh Burgess out of Cincy, he broke his leg and is almost back to playing, but through the injury, Purdue has kept recruiting him. I stated this last week in the upload, that goes a long way with high school kids.
Then, of course, Travis Perry, who Purdue had an in-home visit with a couple of weeks ago. He is more of a combo guard than a true point guard, in my opinion, but would fill a needed void. Purdue is and has been all over the guard, Giacarri Harris, as you all know.
Perry and Harris, I think, are plan A for Coach Painter.
Purdue Basketball Offers German Big Eric Reibe
Matt Painter just offered another big man for the 2025 class.
