Each week we'll take a look back at Purdue's most recent game through Pro Football Focus data and analytics.

Today, the 20-13 loss to Minnesota.

PURDUE OFFENSE
Snap Counts
Quarterback
Aidan O'Connell 87
Austin Burton 3

Wide Receiver
David Bell 74
Milton Wright 51
Jackson Anthrop 39
Broc Thompson 37
TJ Sheffield 24
Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen 14
(They did not credit Greg Long with a snap at WR on that one trick)

Running Back
King Doerue 70
Dylan Downing 29
Ja'Quez Cross 7

Tight End
Garrett Miller 71
Paul Piferi 17
Kyle Bilodeau 2

Offensive Line
Gus Hartwig (C) 87
Eric Miller (RT) 87 — this isn't correct, Cam Craig played some right tackle; he came in on the second series
Greg Long (LT) 87
Spencer Holstege (LG) 77 (something happened to him)
Tyler Witt (RG) 72 (got hurt)
Cam Craig (RG/RT) 25

Grades and Stuff
• Milton Wright was the offense's highest-graded player by a mile, David Bell a distant second, with King Doerue close behind.

• For a game in which he lost a fumble and threw a pick, Aidan O'Connell graded pretty well at quarterback. Not great, but well.

• On the offensive line, Greg Long was Purdue's highest-graded lineman and Cam Craig (25 snaps) the offense's lowest-graded player. Among high-volume snaps players, Tyler Witt and Spencer Holstege got mediocre grades, though both had some circumstances during the game.

• Greg Long and Eric Miller graded well in the running game, but tight end Garrett Miller was Purdue's highest-graded run-blocker.

• Running backs King Doerue and Dylan Downing both graded very well in pass protection.

Passing Game
• Aidan O'Connell's passing chart ...
Kept Clean: 28-40, 304, TD, INT (Very good grade)
Under Pressure: 5-11, 65 (bad grade)
No Blitz: 28-41, 284, TD, INT
Blitz: 5-10, 85

• AOC was 5-11 throwing the ball 20-plus yards in the air, for 127 yards. O'Connell graded amazingly well on those throws.

• Purdue ran playaction on 36 percent of its snaps and was 13-20 for 182 yards and a touchdown and graded impeccably on those throws.

• Purdue dropped one pass. Garrett Miller.

• Purdue totaled 129 of his passing yards after the catch, which might sound like a lot, but 43 of them were from King Doerue on swing passes or screens. Purdue averaged just four yards per reception after the catch.

• Purdue ran four screens and completed all four for an average of 6.3 yards.

• O'Connell was 2-2 for 66 yards to David Bell throwing 20-plus yards between the numbers and 3-for-3 throwing to Milton Wright between 10-19 yards, for 35 yards.

Running Game
• Purdue ran off left end the most (5.0 per carry), right end the second most (4.2) and middle left the third most (2.6).

• The Boilermakers averaged 2.73 yards after contact per carry.

PURDUE DEFENSE
Snap Counts
Defensive Line
George Karlaftis 54
Lawrence Johnson 45
Branson Deen 45
Kydran Jenkins 33
Jack Sullivan 22
Damarjhe Lewis 15
Bryce Austin 7
DaMarcus Mitchell 4 (got hurt or something)

Linebacker
Jalen Graham 55
Jaylan Alexander 55
Kieren Douglas 39
OC Brothers 14

Secondary
Jamari Brown 55
Marvin Grant 47
Cam Allen 47
Dedrick Mackey 47
Chris Jefferson 21

Grades and Stuff
• As individuals, the defense didn't grade great in this game. There's a lot of red (denoting bad) and orange (mediocre) on this chart.

The secondary graded very poorly, except for Dedrick Mackey, who was the defense's second-highest-graded player.

• Kieren Douglas was the defense's lowest-graded player, and Lawrence Johnson — coming off a great game at Notre Dame — was second-lowest. Cam Allen was third-lowest. Jalen Graham and Marvin Grant got below average grades.

• Branson Deen and George Karlaftis were the defense's first- and third-ranked players, respectively, on the grade scale.

Both of them registered two pressures each.

• Purdue got five hits on Minnesota's quarterback. (I don't think this counts tackling them when they're running, but can't say for sure.)

Blitzing
• Tanner Morgan's pass chart ...

Kept Clean: 7-12, 161, TD (worst grade)
Under Pressure: 2-6, 8
Blitzed: 3-7, 137, TD (best grade)
Not Blitzed: 6-11, 32

Tackling
• Purdue missed seven tackles.

Pass Coverage
Jamari Brown was targeted a team-high seven times. He allowed just two catches, but they totaled 86 yards and a touchdown.

• Safeties Cam Allen and Marvin Grant, between the two of them, lined up in the box on 40 or their 94 snaps. I haven't looked at that each week, so can't give you much context.

• Tanner Morgan was 3-7 for 137 yards and a TD throwing the ball 20-plus yards down the field and graded impeccably there.
