Daniel Jacobsen update from TOS

And I hate to let your secret out of what BBG really stands for:

WE all know it stands for BIG BEAUTIFUL GUY !

I think it would take some significant and unfortunate injuries to have a Daniel Jacobsen coming off injury to be better than what Purdue could throw out there in the postseason. And if that's the case, I'm still not sure I'd blow his redshirt in hopes that he can hold his own in the tournament.
Zero chance he play this year, regardless of circumstance

His ability to adapt and win is why many people trust painter. Disagree its a trait that most dont appreciate or recognize about the future hof coach. Many of his best players and teams were very different.
It’s as much trusting the process as it is trusting Painter. Some fans want to jump to the conclusion that the right answer now was the same right answer in November. This team had to play through some different lineups and approaches to get to where they are now, there are no shortcuts.

Trusting MP and the process doesn’t mean that he doesn’t make mistakes, it means that coaches and players need to make mistakes to learn from them and get better, regardless of what we as fans would prefer to see.

I’m not confused. And I love the way you guys just say wrong without doing any research! You guys can eat your your shoes.

Haarms had some issues and would have lost one year of eligibility if he had gone to that prep school. So he entered Purdue mid season. By NCAA rules, Haarms could have played that second semester at Purdue. But Painter decided for him to red shirt that semester . I repeat, Haarms could have played! There were no ncaa rules preventing him from playing after he enrolled at Purdue. But Painter didn’t feel he was ready. So he redshirted him.

In the tourney, a player was injured. Painter could have activated and played Haarms. But in doing so, Haarms would have lost his red shirt year! But there were no ncaa rules preventing painter from playing Haarms. If you took the time to look in the archives of this forum you will see it was discussed as a possibility.

If it did happen Haarms would have lost a year of eligibility and byu would have been upset.

A player was injured. Painter refused to activate Haarms and Purdue lost. those are all facts!

I laugh at you people who just say wrong and don’t even read your own previous posts. You have a memory of a walnut eaten by a chipmunk.

The facts remain. Haarms could have played that second semester when he first arrived. He was actually practicing with the team. He knew the plays. But Painter decided to keep his 4 years of eligibility in tack.

The same will be true for Jacobson. painter could bring him back and play him in the tourney. But he won’t.
Which player was injured? Jacquil Taylor was injured that year, but was out the entire season. I'm not recalling any other injuries that year.

Haarms came in Jan of the 2016-2017 season when he redshirted.

Haas was injured in the NCAA tourney the next season.

The biggest upside for him to put on weight and getting stronger is, probably the presumed starter at the 5 next year. I don’t want to speculate but I just don’t see Berg coming back knowing he is going to backup Jacobsen. Might be good idea to go to the Portal if there is a serviceable big with 1 year.

Glad to see you know who hijacked another thread.

I’m not sure he’d be the first guy up to be the backup to Jacobsen…I’d think burgess would be the main backup to DJ and TKR. And berg is more of a 3-5 min guy…if he stays. I’d have to imagine we dip into the portal for another big

What kind of big do you want? A backup to Jacobsen? A backup to TKR? A starter?

Yeah now that kids can get paid, most of those 1st/2nd round borderline guys like Carsen, TJD, etc, will stay for the guaranteed NIL money.

Having said all that: if CMP thinks he’s so good right now that he can help be the difference in getting us to another FF, I’m good with that too. But that seems about as likely as IU getting Brad…
As unlikely as that may seem, it is more likely than IU getting Brad.

8-12 min guy who is quicker than Berg laterally, quick to react (no offense to Berg), and a rim protector. Tough to find, but there may be a few guys at mid majors that could do that. This guy can be the 4th man in the front court rotation.

I kinda like Konan from PSU. I know he probably wouldn’t want to play less than his 23 min a game right now, but man, having him come off the bench to spell one of our bigs and be a lob threat/rim protector. He could back up TKR as a non 3pt threat so they wouldn’t be on the floor at the same time. But Coach B could whip into shape 😂

Yes he is one of several that would be great. I not going to worry about who though, as I trust our staff to make our team better this off season. Be kinda disappointed if they don't.

Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.

My guess is this could happen nut also would depend on DJs progress I imagine.. the few games he played he showed a ton of potential and just needed some weight (maybe) .. which he apparently has put on (in a good way).

Hard to say ... but that is why Painter gets paid to figure all this out :D

Carey Booth will be back in the portal soon….then again I don’t want big who just hangs on the 3pt line waiting for a kickout pass

Yes, agree. I am sure CMP will not just bring any guy in. When he makes a move, it will be someone who in his opinion will help the team. Given the numbers in the portal, I expect him to be fairly active in doing due diligence in the right guy(s).

We also get 2 additional schollies so might as well add 2 more guys who can help (obviously would have to be right fit)
