And I hate to let your secret out of what BBG really stands for:Yes.. his ass![]()
And I hate to let your secret out of what BBG really stands for:
WE all know it stands for BIG BEAUTIFUL GUY !
Zero chance he play this year, regardless of circumstanceI think it would take some significant and unfortunate injuries to have a Daniel Jacobsen coming off injury to be better than what Purdue could throw out there in the postseason. And if that's the case, I'm still not sure I'd blow his redshirt in hopes that he can hold his own in the tournament.
It’s as much trusting the process as it is trusting Painter. Some fans want to jump to the conclusion that the right answer now was the same right answer in November. This team had to play through some different lineups and approaches to get to where they are now, there are no shortcuts. His ability to adapt and win is why many people trust painter. Disagree its a trait that most dont appreciate or recognize about the future hof coach. Many of his best players and teams were very different.
You going to comment on the fact that you doubled down and were wrong twice, you jackass? Who got hurt Haarms’ redshirt year during the tournament? And I hate to let your secret out of what BBG really stands for:

Does Woley have a special sandpit that he goes and sticks his head into???
It doesn't, so you can quit hitting on me. I don't swing that way anyway .. but hey, kudos to you for finally coming out.And I hate to let your secret out of what BBG really stands for:

Which player was injured? Jacquil Taylor was injured that year, but was out the entire season. I'm not recalling any other injuries that year.I’m not confused. And I love the way you guys just say wrong without doing any research! You guys can eat your your shoes.
Haarms had some issues and would have lost one year of eligibility if he had gone to that prep school. So he entered Purdue mid season. By NCAA rules, Haarms could have played that second semester at Purdue. But Painter decided for him to red shirt that semester . I repeat, Haarms could have played! There were no ncaa rules preventing him from playing after he enrolled at Purdue. But Painter didn’t feel he was ready. So he redshirted him.
In the tourney, a player was injured. Painter could have activated and played Haarms. But in doing so, Haarms would have lost his red shirt year! But there were no ncaa rules preventing painter from playing Haarms. If you took the time to look in the archives of this forum you will see it was discussed as a possibility.
If it did happen Haarms would have lost a year of eligibility and byu would have been upset.
A player was injured. Painter refused to activate Haarms and Purdue lost. those are all facts!
I laugh at you people who just say wrong and don’t even read your own previous posts. You have a memory of a walnut eaten by a chipmunk.
The facts remain. Haarms could have played that second semester when he first arrived. He was actually practicing with the team. He knew the plays. But Painter decided to keep his 4 years of eligibility in tack.
The same will be true for Jacobson. painter could bring him back and play him in the tourney. But he won’t.
Spoiler..he doesn’t know/ was trolling / making it all upWhich player was injured? Jacquil Taylor was injured that year, but was out the entire season. I'm not recalling any other injuries that year.
Haarms came in Jan of the 2016-2017 season when he redshirted.
Haas was injured in the NCAA tourney the next season.
He's not because that's what he does. He's consistently wrong and when proven wrong, he ignores that detail and moves on to his next comically bad take. You going to comment on the fact that you doubled down and were wrong twice, you jackass? Who got hurt Haarms’ redshirt year during the tournament?
Thanks! The followup question is, do ostriches also stick their heads up their a$$es?Fun fact, Ostriches do not really burry their heads in the sand, its a myth.
Doesnt mean that Woley doesnt, just not ostriches.
Just to clarify, Bigs is not a troll. He views himself as a Sheldon Cooper type, smarter than everyone and always right, even when he's not. (Cue personal attack from Bigs)Spoiler..he doesn’t know/ was trolling / making it all up
I’m not sure he’d be the first guy up to be the backup to Jacobsen…I’d think burgess would be the main backup to DJ and TKR. And berg is more of a 3-5 min guy…if he stays. I’d have to imagine we dip into the portal for another bigThe biggest upside for him to put on weight and getting stronger is, probably the presumed starter at the 5 next year. I don’t want to speculate but I just don’t see Berg coming back knowing he is going to backup Jacobsen. Might be good idea to go to the Portal if there is a serviceable big with 1 year.
Glad to see you know who hijacked another thread.
What kind of big do you want? A backup to Jacobsen? A backup to TKR? A starter?I’m not sure he’d be the first guy up to be the backup to Jacobsen…I’d think burgess would be the main backup to DJ and TKR. And berg is more of a 3-5 min guy…if he stays. As unlikely as that may seem, it is more likely than IU getting Brad.Yeah now that kids can get paid, most of those 1st/2nd round borderline guys like Carsen, TJD, etc, will stay for the guaranteed NIL money.
Having said all that: if CMP thinks he’s so good right now that he can help be the difference in getting us to another FF, I’m good with that too. But that seems about as likely as IU getting Brad…
8-12 min guy who is quicker than Berg laterally, quick to react (no offense to Berg), and a rim protector. Tough to find, but there may be a few guys at mid majors that could do that. This guy can be the 4th man in the front court rotation. What kind of big do you want? A backup to Jacobsen? A backup to TKR? A starter?
Don’t confuse him with facts! If you are going to be wrong, you might as well double down on being wrong. Haarms redshirt year was 2016-17, which was Haas' Jr year. Haas was hurt in 2017-18, his senior year and Haarms played.
I kinda like Konan from PSU. I know he probably wouldn’t want to play less than his 23 min a game right now, but man, having him come off the bench to spell one of our bigs and be a lob threat/rim protector. He could back up TKR as a non 3pt threat so they wouldn’t be on the floor at the same time. But Coach B could whip into shape 😂What kind of big do you want? A backup to Jacobsen? A backup to TKR? Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.I kinda like Konan from PSU. If paint would do that, I’d be down for that tooWhy not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.
My guess is this could happen nut also would depend on DJs progress I imagine.. the few games he played he showed a ton of potential and just needed some weight (maybe) .. which he apparently has put on (in a good way). Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Carey Booth will be back in the portal soon….then again I don’t want big who just hangs on the 3pt line waiting for a kickout pass
We also get 2 additional schollies so might as well add 2 more guys who can help (obviously would have to be right fit)My guess is this could happen nut also would depend on DJs progress I imagine.. the few games he played he showed a ton of potential and just needed some weight (maybe) .. which he apparently has put on (in a good way).
Hard to say ... but that is why Painter gets paid to figure all this out![]()
Agree. He adapts and wins. The first adaptation isnt always fruitful but he will get the most out of the team and what it looks like maybe completely different than what he started with or what weve done in the past. Hes found certain things and personality traits that he likes as well. I doubt he will ever get the horses to win a national title but hes going to keep purdue relevant as long as hes coaching. It’s as much trusting the process as it is trusting Painter. Some fans want to jump to the conclusion that the right answer now was the same right answer in November. Trusting MP and the process doesn’t mean that he doesn’t make mistakes, it means that coaches and players need to make mistakes to learn from them and get better, regardless of what we as fans would prefer to see.
I mean, obviously no.Thanks! The followup question is, do ostriches also stick their heads up their a$$es?
Are you thinking Burgess would play the roll Furst played last year?I’m not sure he’d be the first guy up to be the backup to Jacobsen…I’d think burgess would be the main backup to DJ and TKR. And berg is more of a 3-5 min guy…if he stays. I’d have to imagine we dip into the portal for another big
I would hope. He has the height, skill, rim protecting ability, quickness and shooting touch to make a real impact. At least more than berg IMOAre you thinking Burgess would play the roll Furst played last year?
I expect that would be a high draft pick quality player. It would be great, if we could win the bidding war. Or if Painter worked his magic and found another hidden gem.Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.
I don't buy DJ is a going to the NBA player just yet, but he's clearly talented enough that you're probably not finding a better option in the portal than him at the 5 or TKR at the 4.Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.
I mean the portal has been around for about five minutes so I am not sure past is prologue at this early point.Correct me if I am wrong, but has Painter ever gone to the transfer/portal for a big? Not saying this could not happen in the future, but think if he wants another big for next year, it will be from the High School ranks and not from the portal.

Well, technically, he's only had two transfer portal players, IIRC - both guards needed initially as secondary ball handlers who could also provide some scoring. David Jenkins was a solid role player off the bench, and Lance Jones worked out as well as Painter could have hoped for in being a key starter last year.
If you want to go back to graduate transfer days - mostly backcourt with Jon Octeus, Sterling Carter, Johnny Hill, and Spike Albrecht. Front court additions included Errick Peck and Evan Boudreaux.
Matt Painter, as stubborn as he may appear, has shown a willingness to adapt - although maybe not on the preferred schedule of many.
JMHO
Painter was quoted as saying "I'll go in when I have to" referring to the transfer Portal.
He hasnt had a need in the transfer portal for a big man, not sure he will have a need next year with Jacobson and TKR.
Technically under Keady, but during Painters first year, so he was the assistant head coach when Keady went and got Carl Landry who was a power forward. (Berg and Burgess)
Will we have any open scholarships next year unless we have a transfer? West in, Furst out right?
Berg isn't going to be doing anything next season. We need another big this season and he isn't doing anything, not sure why folks keep thinking we don't need another big for depth because we have Berg.Painter was quoted as saying "I'll go in when I have to" referring to the transfer Portal.
