Bob Knight is a lingering shadow for IU they can't get rid of.
That being said, how great is it to see Gene Keady traveling to games and cheering on the Boilers and his former player?
Carl Landry, Matt Kiefer and Ryne Smith were there last night as well.
I listened to part of that rant by dd(lower case) and didn't really get the point of the portion I heard. But it now seems dd(lower case) now understands what the rest of the world has been telling IU Nation. But now is the time for dd(lower case) to stand up and put his money where his mouth is. I want him to become the new IU coach. Then he can demonstrate the things he said about IU owning the state of Indiana recruiting and that all the best high school players in Indiana need to cherish going to IU to play basketball. Barf
Not a DD fan, but I think he's right. Knight is a jerk and always was. I was listening to ESPN1000 Chicago last week and they were talking about how he'll never ever return and hopes all of the folks at the top of the university "were dead". When the interviewer told him many were, he said, "Good, I hope the rest go". Wow. He's a narcissistic douche. However, I kinda hold the university in contempt as they enabled his crap for so long...for the sole reason he brought "banners". They made a deal with the Devil and as soon as he stopped being dominant, they changed the game and sent him packing for reasons much less than that which was acceptable for years. They deserve to wallow in mediocrity, feed from the bottom and I enjoy watching them suffer.
Very true. The price that people will pay for banners and success. I marveled at many an IU fan that would spin and justify everything that Knight did on and off the court in the 80's and 90's. "He has a point", they would say, or "He's right" or my favorite, "He is just getting the attention off of the team". Now Knight has spoken.......I wonder how many IU fans will defend him?
Thankfully I do not live anywhere I have to deal with them, but curious what general sentiments seem to be. Obviously the younger generation is probably not one to defend him as they weren't around when he was, but guessing a good chunk of the older crowd still do?
And I believe IU is a "lingering shadow" that Bob Knight can't get rid of, much to his dismay.
