Comparison of Carsen Edwards skills to Jalen Brunson

Having watched about three of the FIBA U19 games in Greece which the USA played, I was very impressed by Jalen Brunson (whom we missed out on). I also imagined how great it would have been to have him accept our offer to play at Purdue. However, in my viewing of Carsen Edwards highlights and the way he moves on the court, his foot work, speed, quick shot release, and shooting range. I think we've got in our class of 2016 a Jalen Brunson potential point guard in the commitment of Carsen Edwards. I'd like others thoughts on this? Plus he could maybe pick up an inch or more in height in his remaining year of high school.

I've never watched Edwards play, but if he was as good as Brunson, he'd offers from the entire Big 12 including Kansas. That said, he has a lot of offers from motion offense programs and I have no doubt that he was a great pick-up for Purdue.

Edwards is not a ball dominant pg, in fact he is not the primary ball handler for his hs or aau teams. That said he is said to be a solid ball handler.

Brunson is way better at this point. Doesn't mean Edwards can't get there, but there's a reason Brunson was #1 on so many colleges list.

Brunson is light years ahead of Carsen, which is fine. Brunson, pound for pound, may bet the best player in the 2015 class. Brunson actually seems to have a nice blend of Carsen and Xavier Simpson, as he can play methodically, like XS, but has great range on his shot, and a sneaky/underrated level of athleticism.

Carsen isn't the "floor general" that Brunson (or even Simpson) is at this point, but that seems to be primarily because he hasn't had to be. Even if he never does become the go-to/primary ball handler, why do we need him to be at Purdue? If he can be a hound on D, knock down open threes, provide some penetration with his quickness to break down the D, all while playing within the motion O, is there much more we can ask for?

Hey BoilerGrad02

What's your favorite Waits album?

Have you ever seen him live?

Mule Variations but I also love Orphans (really I love a lot of Tom Waits albums).

Never seen him live but living in Indiana I haven't had many chances. My wife is from Atlanta and he played there years ago and I should have taken us both.

Performed on one of the final Letterman shows so I'm hoping a new album and tour are in the works.

Good albums - Little Drop of Poison is one of my favorite tracks

Franks Wild Years, Swordfishtrombones and Raindogs will always be the trilogy to beat, for me, since they were my introduction to Waits, in my deepest depression amidst my first Chicago winter

At 66, he MIGHT have one tour left in him, but I don't rate my chances of beating the rabid fan base for a ticket. I have no idea how to score a ticket for a performance as rare as Waits
