Chance to beat MSU?

You might be overstating our advantages. MSU has higher rated recruits across the whole court than we do. They have substantial home court advantage. I think your bombastic statements about no excuses reflect that you watch Purdues games exclusively and not enough games of other teams.

This is going to be a very difficult game for us to win. I always had this one pencilled as a loss, right from the start of the season. I would think MSU is favored at this point

purdue -2
let's do this

I watch an absurd amount of college basketball. I dont say this mext thing to start a fight but I have to point it out - The fact that youre still touting MSU as a tough team when theyre 52nd in KenPom and 12-8 more heavily implies its YOU who only watch Purdue games because this version of MSU is a bubble tournament team at best and most likely an NIT squad.

With as talented, deep, and experienced as Purdue is this year, they really should not be losing anymore road games to non tourbament teams(Iowa).

Its not unrealistic to expect big things out of this years squad ans Painter. The potential is there, they now need to reach it and win the games theyre supposed to win.

While I agree, I'd rather have more success in the NCAA tourney than win a B1G, I think the 2 go hand in hand. We still have an opportunity to get a 2 or 3 seed. I think that could go a long way to getting over the hump in the tourney. I think the highest seed we've had under CMP has been a 4. Win the B1G and a 2 or 3 is possible.

agree

minor note, we did get a 3 seed once. that was the year we fell to 11 vcu. helped for the 1st round though

I see it stated on here often and shake my head every time, "I had this one penciled in as a loss before the season even started." Tough game yes, loss no. I'm not calling you a loser, but that is a loser's mentality

this statement would agree with many posts of the past, including those argued to be negative

Mind you I didn't say that mindset was correct or that I agreed with it. That's just how a small group of people here think.

Here's what you don't get. HE'S NOT PART OF THE TEAM. YOU'RE NOT PART OF THE TEAM. YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR SOMEONE ELSE ARE MEANINGLESS.

You expecting alot of someone else doesn't mean you have a winner's mentality or vice versa. It's what you expect of yourself that matters in that regard.

if my memory serves correctly, we've beaten msu 1 time in 6 years, last year when Ray went nuts. I highly doubt my expectations are out of line with the teams. I have given thousands to the JPC and my and my wife's degree says Purdue University on it. CMP makes 2M a year. I have ****ing expectations. If you can't deal with it, find another thread to be mediocre in.

Have your expectations. I don't really give a **** what they are. Just don't confuse you having high expectations FOR SOMEONE ELSE as having anything to do with you being a winner or having a winner's mentality. If anything, I think the people here that act as if they are too good for a top 25 basketball team are the real losers.

but you do care. You argue meaningless shit and tell people how they should feel and what to expect and define who and who isn't a loser. so quit pretending you're above it all.

Having high expectations for someone else doesn't make you a winner or mean you have a winner's mentality. It's that simple.

you're just a guy, telling me i'm just a fan.

Are you more than that? If you are CMP or an assistant coach please enlighten me.

The difference between us is that I realize that I'm only a fan and that me demanding more from a group of people that don't even know who the hell I am doesn't make me a winner.

I'll have to say 35%. We've played 3 true road games this season and we are 1-2 and could easily be 0-3. MSU should be tougher than Iowa or Ohio State road games. I can't objectively say this is a game I'm expecting us to win based on what we've seen this season so far. I will say that it is a game that we CAN win if we play well.

We could also easily be 2-1.

That being said, outside of a couple teams here and there (even Penn State has not been an easy road win), there's no such thing as an easy win on the road in the Big Ten.

Michigan State has lost its last 3 road games. They've won their last 3 home games - all by pretty comfortable margins (including Minnesota and NW). So their weak spot is definitely on the road.

They'll be ready to be back at home. I think Purdue needs to be comfortable from the start and not dig themselves a hole. That was a problem at Louisville. Swanigan and Vince both need to avoid very early fouls (and Haas, although I'm guessing he will not start immediately). This goes without saying against any team we play, but if we shoot decently from outside, it really opens things up for this team. We shot well from 3 in the first half against Iowa, but only shot 25% in the second half - on 16 attempts (we were 7-12 in the first half). We need to do a better job of taking advantage of the open space when we do shoot well from outside. The recipe shouldn't be to shoot more - you're just not mathematically going to continue at that pace as a team - it should be to take advantage of what shooting them well in one half can do.

I think the team learned from that - against Illinois they shot fewer 3s in the second half, even though they started the game 6-9 in the first half. When you can have success inside, take it.

where do I say I need the team to make me a winner? I want them to be winners. I've already won. I support them by being a fan and a booster. Apparently you support them by being the forum judge. good luck with your loser mentality.

You've already won? I don't think so. I have higher expectations for you than just being a fan and a booster. You are settling and that's a loser mentality.

See. Now by your logic I have a winner's mentality because I expect better from you!

No I'm just a fan I'm not allowed to have expectations. See what I did there? fool...

Show me where I said you couldn't have expectations. All I've said is that your expectations for someone else don't determine whether you yourself have a winner's mentality or not.

I'm not allowed to have expectations of anything. God forbid I expect my car to be well built, that the food I'm served be not spoiled, that my child do what I ask, or that the team I support win a game. your logic is so pathetic. I have expectations of everything and your broken brain doesn't get to determine whether they are justified or not.

Again you're clearly demonstrating you don't understand as you continue to argue about the level of your expectations for things rather than realize that your expectations, no matter what they are, for a basketball team you are merely a fan of doesn't make you a winner or a loser.

omg...you are dense. Let me re-post for you so you can view your own ignorance. YOU are the one who turned it into this. I never said anything about it making ME a winner or loser.

I'm not saying it's easy but I expect a team that wants to make some noise to win this game. This is very winnable. I would generally not seriously pick us to win in EL but they are not a strong team this year. Are we going to strive for excellence or what? Let's take the next step in becoming a great team and quit the excuse making that it's a road game. This team is better than a stinking 5 seed.

No. I never did that. You just can't understand things very well.

That is stimulating chatter. Oooy

Back to more unimportant stuff like the game. Worried they come out with game plan going after Biggie early. So concious of staying out of foul trouble early with the stand his ground with raised hands not difficult to score . Hasn't hurt yet with strategy but hope we shoot well early as hate fall behind big again first half . He really hasn't been in serious foul trouble yet and hope that continues. I can see them going after him though .

Unfortunately, I believe this will be MSU's best played game of the year. They tend to do that against us. Guys will probably do things they haven't done all year and won't do again. I am not optimistic. Still excited though.

Wow, you've twisted not writing off games as losses before the season starts to your not on the team, expectations, and the meaning of life. You are trying way to hard, and stop SHOUTING!

You can say I'm trying way too hard but I'm not the person equating my expectations for a team I am not on and have little to do with to myself being a winner or loser. That's insane.

Of course it would be great to win. But the end of the world won't be here if we lose it either.

I have not watched MSU play much this year, but I do know they have talented players - and with Izzo, it is usually only a matter of time.

Nobody is making excuses....we all want to win. But in college basketball, and the Big Ten specifically, shit happens.
