Ceiling for next season

Just please beat IUsedtobe. It should be a very small task. I wonder how long it will be before their next "movement" starts lol

If you are really talking ceiling and floor, the ceiling is Final Four and the floor is NIT.

Several teams with less talent than Purdue will have next season have made a Final Four.

Likewise, several teams with more talent than Purdue will have next season have failed to make the NCAA.

That's why I like to watch a season play out before making ridiculously narrow projections.

Lmao so the last guy besides big dog to become first team all American as a sophomore was some guy in the 1940's. Ya i think ill stick with my opinion that biggie is Purdues second all time player

for example Mount ranked higher IMO with the metric he took us farther in the tourney as well as being an AA as a soph. although not consensus

A good post someday would be posters opinions of Purdue's top 10 basketball players of all time........

Years ago, most players played four years of college so it was harder to make first team AA as a sophomore. In the past 40 years, Big Dog and JBC have to be the top 2.

Glenn Robinson
Rick Mount
Terry Dischinger
Dave Schellhase
Joe Barry Carroll
Caleb Swanigan
E'Twaun Moore
John Wooden
Rob Hummel
Tie (Troy Lewis, Brad Miller, JaJuan Johnson, Keith Edmonson)

totally arbitrary, JMHO......I know I've left off some very worthy candidates....let the "debate" begin.....and the arrows fly.

You just said name one player, you did not say it had to happen in some time frame. Again I do not know your age but to assume that Biggie is the second best player all time at Purdue is short sited. Remember that many were not allowed to play as freshmen, so their sophomore year was like Biggies freshman year. Big Dog was not a 1st all american his sophomore year. Correct me if I am wrong, but was Biggie even a 2nd, 3rd or HM all american as a freshman?

Name one other purdue player who was 1st team all American as a sophomore.

that's not a fair question, as before the 70's, players couldn't even play varsity as a freshman. Just ask Lew Alcindor. So for many, their sophomore year was their first year and they didn't start.

Big Dog, Mount, Joe Barry and Dischinger were all great Boilers. Big Dog took the boilers to the elite 8 and was player of the year and first overall draft pick. Big Dog was a prop 48 his freshman year. Joe Barry took Purdue to the Final 4 and was also the first overall draft pick. Mount led Purdue to the NCAA championship game against UCLA. And Dischinger did something good. Kyle Macy was an All American after he left. But the greatest of all time?

I believe the greatest Boilermaker of all time was probably John Wooden. he was a 3 time All American (including sophomore year) as a player, winning a pre-NCAA national Championship in 1932, and he was a pretty good coach too.
