So was this a long time coming? Is this how our scholarship situation worked out?

Very weird timing but I'm guessing he doesn't want to sit behind TKR and Heide and that might be the feeling he was getting. Which is why I don't think he will come to Indiana either with Reneau and Mgbako at the 3/4.

Sounds like he was looking for playing time guarantees and Coach Painter doesn't do that. Kudos to coach for sticking to his principles. Can't let the inmates run the asylum. That's how you ended up with Ronnie Johnson about tearing down the program.
No one is above the program. Purdue will be just fine and I hope he'll be just fine.

Thinking TKR moves back to the 4 now with Furst/Jacobsen/Berg battling for the 5 position minutes. Also might mean Burgess no longer redshirts. Tough to miss someone who was never here.
Well, if he's looking for minutes guarantees as rumored, he should probably go somewhere that isn't loaded already so ND would likely be a good fit in that regard.
Based on how this went down, Shrews won't touch him with a 10-foot pole.
Kid has some maturity issues (numerous technical fouls, leaving a game early they were losing in OTE, etc). Not saying good riddance, but it may turn out for the best for Purdue.
Hate losing this talent. Maybe his head got too big. Anyway it answers some questions. Got to believe TKR is back at the 4.

Yep, Jacobsen playing great right now makes this easier to digest. Still a ton of depth at the 4/5 spots.
Yea…I’ve never been the level of player he is, but personally I don’t want to go to a team that’s not going to compete much
They have a lot of transfers tho that I’m sure have promised playing time to. So wouldn’t make sense to me that they could guarantee him starter mins…but underwood may be that type of coach.
Jacobsen/Furst/Berg at the 5, TKR, Burgess/Heide/Waddell at the 4, that’s a lot of guys battling for minutes.
Agree. We have plenty of talent. Timing is definitely strange and not thought out, and whether it's guaranteed playing time, more dollars, or something else, it just points to the fact that he's not Purdue material. I mean that wrt fit and nothing against his character which Im sure is solid if Painter recruited him. Wish him the best anyway.
With Jacobsen playing as well as he is right now I have to think that a TKR to the 4 is the path we’ll see, let Jacobsen/Furst/Berg battle for the 5 position minutes, TKR/Heide/Burgess/Waddell will get the 4 spot minutes, there was no guarantee that Catchings was starting on day 1, guessing he didn’t like that.

Shrews would definitely talk to MP first. If MS can guarantee him what he's looking for it might be worth a roll of the dice.
Or his agent. Kid abandoned his HS teammates for cash and being in a crap show! He's going to be a great player everyone has to walk his own path good luck!

More minutes for Jack! who played the 4 last night for Indiana senior all-stars vs JR's. Flory Bidunga was top scorer with 34 meanwhile our boy Jack added 19 while playing limited minutes he shot 70% including 5of 8 from three. At 6'6 he is the same size as Mason. Two of his shots were from deep just jaw dropping and over Matt Sisley who looked to be the same size as Jack.
Minutes opened for sure, my guess is he or Burgess redshirts, we’ll see which one.
There is no way this was the "plan to be known later" CMP had way last spring to get to 13 that was referenced by several posters.
Guess we might never know that "plan".....
Love him as a prospect and long term fit but I will play as many minutes next year as Jack.
