Stings a little right? But that puts Purdue even on scholarships. Not the one that needed to go though. Will be interesting to see where he ends up(won't be Indiana). Notre Dame?

Well darn. Not completely surprising given the rumors a few months ago. Wonder why. Lack of NIL money? Playing time? It stings but it’s not the end of the world still gonna be good and got good players in the program.

So was this a long time coming? Is this how our scholarship situation worked out?

Sucks we couldn’t hang on to him. Still like the rest of the class and think we have a lot of potential without him.

Yes and yes. Makes playing time a bit more clear for who we have now.

no clue. Imagine they have a couple spots. Still in Indiana and a good coach.
Well yes, shrews is great but the team won’t be good, theyre a few years away from that.

Interesting timing….after transfer portal is closed so that’s done. Wonder where he goes. Man, was excited to see him in a Purdue uniform and give us a player we usually don’t have.

Very weird timing but I'm guessing he doesn't want to sit behind TKR and Heide and that might be the feeling he was getting. Which is why I don't think he will come to Indiana either with Reneau and Mgbako at the 3/4.

Correct. I’m wondering if he just stays at OTE? Hope not for his development cuz that league is trash.

Well, if he's looking for minutes guarantees as rumored, he should probably go somewhere that isn't loaded already so ND would likely be a good fit in that regard.

Based on how this went down, Shrews won't touch him with a 10-foot pole.

Kid has some maturity issues (numerous technical fouls, leaving a game early they were losing in OTE, etc). Not saying good riddance, but it may turn out for the best for Purdue.

Yea…I’ve never been the level of player he is, but personally I don’t want to go to a team that’s not going to compete much

Illinois would be another good spot. Replace Coleman at the 4.
They have a lot of transfers tho that I’m sure have promised playing time to. So wouldn’t make sense to me that they could guarantee him starter mins…but underwood may be that type of coach.

No one is above the program. Purdue will be just fine and I hope he'll be just fine.
Agree. We have plenty of talent. Timing is definitely strange and not thought out, and whether it's guaranteed playing time, more dollars, or something else, it just points to the fact that he's not Purdue material. I mean that wrt fit and nothing against his character which Im sure is solid if Painter recruited him. Wish him the best anyway.

With Jacobsen playing as well as he is right now I have to think that a TKR to the 4 is the path we’ll see, let Jacobsen/Furst/Berg battle for the 5 position minutes, TKR/Heide/Burgess/Waddell will get the 4 spot minutes, there was no guarantee that Catchings was starting on day 1, guessing he didn’t like that.

Shrews would definitely talk to MP first. If MS can guarantee him what he's looking for it might be worth a roll of the dice.

From Neubert: "The highly regarded forward/wing from Brownsburg, via Overtime Elite, spoke with Boilermaker coach Matt Painter this week to discuss his role on this year’s team, which likely would have been considerable, but still to be determined."

Must not have liked what he heard. Playing time is not promised...it's earned.

More minutes for Jack! who played the 4 last night for Indiana senior all-stars vs JR's. Flory Bidunga was top scorer with 34 meanwhile our boy Jack added 19 while playing limited minutes he shot 70% including 5of 8 from three. At 6'6 he is the same size as Mason. Two of his shots were from deep just jaw dropping and over Matt Sisley who looked to be the same size as Jack.

Minutes opened for sure, my guess is he or Burgess redshirts, we’ll see which one.

Heide and Waddell will play the 3

Is this how our scholarship situation worked out?

There is no way this was the "plan to be known later" CMP had way last spring to get to 13 that was referenced by several posters.

Guess we might never know that "plan".....

Love him as a prospect and long term fit but I will play as many minutes next year as Jack.
