Unlike scholarships, NIL can be given, and NIL can be taken away. The NCAA cannot regulate it. If a high profile recruit is promised NIL money to sign with a school, but doesn't meet expectations, he can keep his scholarship, but lose the real reason he signed.
Probably happened to some of IU’s mercenaries when DeVries took over.

Or he can sign back with Baylor for $1M and then get swayed by the Mormon church for another $2M and commit to BYU 🙃

Coming out of high school, his market value may have been as high as it will ever be. He seemed like a sure thing. Then he appeared to have no positive impact at BYU. He certainly did nothing to justify that enormous NIL money. I wonder how much of a pay cut he took going to UNC, but it will probably still be better than the drop he would have seen staying at BYU..

Haha sorry was talking about Robert wright III. Was baylors Pg this last year and was on the Montverde squad with cooper Flagg. Now he was paid by the church for $3M after “committing to return” to Baylor for $1M.

Saw some interesting reading that he is the ultimate “I’m good because who I play with” type.

I guess he is guaranteed starting minutes but also guaranteed to be part of a team not making the ncaas
They were in the tournament for the season that just ended. No one really notices because it’s all a prelude to football season there.

As a UGA grad, this is becoming less and less true. Sellouts for 80% of home games and a fan base becoming more engaged. I think Mike White is a middling to average coach but they’ve given him some NIL budget and he’s brought in some good kids.

Some time in the SEC but out of the national spotlight might be good for KC. Kids dripping with potential and talent. UGA is just about as good of a landing place as I can think of…get a slight pay day but have the chance to play as much as the talent bears.

It’s a decent fit and as long as they keep paying him and he’s productive he’ll probably stay.
