Can we flip some IU recruits?

Should not be difficult, if they want to stay committed to losing them we don’t want them anyhow

You Know I want Brohm to steal/flip Moore! The other two would also be nice. The LB was previously committed to OSU, so he could change his mind.

I have to believe we still have a few spots left. There is always somebody who leaves

Moore is pretty lazy. Has the size and ability but seems to take a ton of plays off. If he would play with urgency every play..he could be a stud

Think we can flip any IU recruits after the OOB game? They have three good kids from Indiana committed, all four-stars.

Dasan McCullough
LB

Bloomington, IN
DJ Moore
OL

Fort Wayne, IN

6'6"

335

Omar Cooper Jr.
WR

Indianapolis, IN

6'1"

160

Moore is lazy and did not impress coaches at workouts.

Cooper Is slight and had a big knee injury

McCulloughs dad is a coach at IU

I was thinking Moore primarily because of his size, and he’s from Indiana and Brohm had recruited him.

I forgot to ask my connections at Miami of Ohio about their player who entered the portal.

something my gut tells me is there might be a major shakeup at penn st and there may be some players leaving through the portal or recruits looking elsewhere!

and also at Nebraska. Frost might be staying but his assistant coaches who recruited players are not. And there might be some current players wanting to leave.

Regular H.S. recruiting class is quite full.
Purdue will use the portal transfers to fill needs based on Purdue players hitting the portal. Will be an interesting December for sure.
If A. O’Connell stays, I suspect we’ll see 1 or more QB’s hit the portal.
I’d be surprised if A. O’Connell stays as he could land on a roster in the NFL and make good coin better than any 9 to 5 job. With some luck, he might be able to land a backup QB contract in 2-3 yrs. That is why I suspect he’ll go.
I personally haven’t been this interested in Purdue football in more than a decade in December!
I can only complain that it now conflicts directly with my Purdue Basketball interests Damn it!!! 😀
A good conflict to have.

There are going to be some guys at places looking for a new home...be it players looking to transfer, or, recruits coming in.

And, Purdue should be an appealing destination right now...as appealing as it ever has been.

They have shown a willingness to go to the Portal for guys...maybe they can/will be more selective.

Problem with the portal is that those guys are there for a reason. Usually the reason is lack of playing time and better players on the roster ahead of them. However, we sometime see mid-major guys who have developed well and want to go up to the next level.

While I think that has typically been the case...it seems that right now, way more guys are looking to move on for other reasons...better players in a lot of cases...I mean, lets just use IU as an example...you have a year or two left...are you staying and just going through the motions, or, are you looking for an opportunity to play somewhere where you are actually playing for something? That is true of any number of schools for that matter. What if you are at Nebraska as someone else touched on and your position coach was fired...and, similar situation in that you know you really aren't playing for anything there right now either. What if your HC gets hired away (almost certain to happen at Cincinnati, and, going to happen at other places as well)?

Look at Walker at MSU...Wandale Robinson.

There are always guys looking to move up from MAC and other smaller conferences.

I think O'Connell stays, and, I do think you see the other 2 QBs hit the portal.

If O'Connell returns...he plays himself on to a NFL roster...right now, he is drawing interest...come back...he is on radars and will be on even more if he produces.

He is as comfortable right now as he has been...that carries over also as he enters the fall as the starter and offensive (and even team) leader.

It is the biggest question going into the offseason.

I think O’Connell stays, because of what was just said previous post. He’s comfortable, he can be a leader right now. And he can improve his draft stock by staying. Making an NFL roster is certainly not a sure thing, if you leave and don’t make a roster the dream is over. If you come back you’re probably going to have a stellar year. Everything is on the table this way.

O'Connell's genius is that he throws a very catchable ball. He doesn't have a superstrong arm, he doesn't throw frozen ropes that are hard to catch. He uses good judgement and throws very accurately. Reminds me of Bob Griese.

Why any decent recruit would choose IU is a mystery. Their administration doesn’t understand how to build a winning program and their alums and fans don’t know anything about the sport, nor do they care. These idiots thought they were winning the BiG this year and are now using the lame injury excuse to explain why they got blasted every game. It’s why they’ll never get better and why they’ll cycle through another coaching change in a year or two. The outgoing portal activity for them will be brisk.

Would Burton get another free transfer after already transferring to Purdue? I have no idea how any of that works at this point.

Plummer is an interesting situation. He has two years of eligibility left, and already has a Purdue degree. He could stay and play another year or two, transfer schools, or just hang it up and get a job. None of those would surprise me.

Here's what I'm hoping that will play out, AOC comes back, Allen in the fold, Plummer and Burton transfer out which will keep Alaimo around. If AOC leaves then maybe Plummer sticks around.

That’s strange that is very conflicting with my observations. Maybe not super strong arm but can put plenty of zip on the ball. He used to only throw frozen ropes but improved tremendously with putting touch on the ball.

Purdue backed off him. Same as cooper. McCullough going with dad and brothers. We didn’t even offer him. Those are their only 3 commits from Indiana. Only guy they have I wouldn’t mind is Carter Smith, OT from Ohio but we weren’t close to getting him. I’d rather poach some of their players from the transfer portal.

Admittedly there are probably players from other teams worth trying to flip. Look at any team that under performed or whose coaching staff is leaving and there may be a player with second thoughts. Northwestern and Nebraska could be good targets. Texas has seen players leave. I’m not that familiar with who will be leaving Purdue to say what players to pursue. I believe we have enough QBs. I believe GK and Bell will leave early. I have to believe Purdue will also lose a couple of players via the portal that are low on the depth chart.

My observations are that he also can throw with plenty of zip on the ball as well as through a catchable ball. It’s a talent that he’s worked on for quite some time it seems. He has a lot going on between his ears. How obviously put in the work outside of their practices in the film room like a true professional does. Because he understands all of the nuances of this offense.

If OConnell is going to stay, you need to get him some OL help in the portal. Guys that can come in and start right away. He'll have a nice WR group to throw to and Scott should be the No1 RB, so OL is really the area of need on offense.

And if you pick up players from blue bloods that aren't getting playing time, they're likely to be very good players who may have gotten beat out by another 4 or 5 star and are looking to be more than depth. You know, generally better than some of the players we have the ability to recruit en masse? Or they might be head cases. Who knows? Not sure how you can broad brush like you just did?

As others have posted; Dasan McCullough's dad is an IU Coach. His older brother transfered from Miami (OH) to IU, and his little brother has already committed to the Hoosiers.

BUT, more than any of that, this is the kid who trash tweeted at the players transferring from IU ("Can't make 3rd string at IU, but will probably start for horrible Purdue?) and trash tweeted at our recruit Strickland that "he'd never win a bucket game" Kid is just trash.

He's now public enemy No.1 for Boiler Nation!

That'll be the last time he touches the Bucket!

Forgive my lack of roster knowledge, but who is Scott at running back? Thanks.
