Caleb Swanigan appreciation thread

Dear Caleb, thank you for being a model Boilermaker and wonderful ambassador for Purdue. We wish you nothing but the best and will miss you dearly.
I agree completely.I only want the best for this young man.He has overcome many obstacles in his life, and we know he will overcome many more.

Gonna miss him. I hope his work ethic sticks around for a long time. He was/is a beast.

Thanks for putting Purdue basketball back on the map. You may not have won a national championship, but you won the hearts of Purdue fans and the respect from our opponents.

So much to appreciate about Caleb.

His work ethic. After his freshman year, I never imagined the improvements to his strength, agility and movement. The improvement in his shooting. It's truly unbelievable. So much so, that I refuse label or project his ceiling. He already pushed past what I thought after his freshman year. Imagine what his work ethic could project out to for 2-3 years from now. Remember, he is still only 20. I think if I was a GM, I would draft him in late first or early 2nd without hesitation. Maybe even pick him up mid first round. Buy Biggie stock NOW because the bandwagon won't have space in a couple years.

He brought a lot of good attention to Purdue and it's hard to measure that. Really helped to turn around the program and the future is looking very bright!

I also have to say that you can't have a Biggie appreciation post without greatly appreciating Roosevelt Barnes and Caleb's older brother. The story is his older brother (who was a good player in his own right) reached out to Mr Barnes because he knew he couldn't offer what Biggie needed. That's love and sacrifice man.

To Mr Barnes who truly showed the power of a father figure/mentor in one's life and the power of your own mentality and faith in yourself. To lead, to mentor, to guide, sometimes it is tough love and things you don't want to hear or do to make you better and to enable opportunities for yourself. For as much as we are amazed at the transformation of Biggie's body - from a 300+ lb 8th grader to what he is today - that transformation started with Mr Barnes transforming Biggie's mind and mentality while he was still a 300+ lb boy when no one else believed or cared.

Caleb,
I'm so proud of you and Purdue. What a tremendous example you have set for all Purdue nation. I remember the day you re opened recruitment and that glimmer of hope we had that you would go on to select Purdue. Way to give it everything you had and for pushing yourself and those around you. I knew you were special when you talked of bringing a NC to West Lafayette. Give them hell in the NBA and when you can pump up Purdue to those young guys who look up to you.

Thanks Biggie for the hardwork and effort. Good Luck in the NBA...hope you will be a Pacer! You will be missed...every missed rebound by Purdue next year...I will think of you.

Caleb, thanks for the memories! Good luck and continue to play hard!

I am grateful that Caleb chose Purdue, have thoroughly enjoyed watching him the last 2 years, and can't wait to see what the next chapter in his life brings him. With his inspiring work ethic, I know it will be all good stuff.
