BTT: Purdue v. Michigan State Game Thread

You are crazy if you think anything will even out here. The lack of whistles when we draw contact completely negates any advantage we have. Tell me about the last time calls "evened out" against an Izzo coached team.
Agreed. Just because the fouls may end up even - doesn't mean that enough fouls should have been called. We should have double the fouls called on MSU by now.

I've got it: This is our turn to come from behind at the half and win the second, by at least 11. Yeah, that's it.

My brother is a Maryland grad. All he does is bitch about the refs. It's not even fun to watch a game, even if you don't think the calls are going your way. Complaining about the officials is weak.
Take the officials out of it and execute.
We need someone to get hot from three or its gonna be an 8 pt game the entire second half.

All right. Ugly half, but this isn't over. Time for us to come out and counterpunch someone in the 2nd half for a change. Just need a couple guys to get hot. It's not like MSU is lighting it up.

Boilers are just getting outplayed by a better team right now. There's 20 minutes left to correct it.....gotta play smarter with the shot selection I agree.....too much "forcing" it, but Michigan State is a darn good defensive team.

Non-existent outside shooting and inconsistent inside play (after the first 10) minutes explains this 10 point deficit.

Valentine and Forbes aren't even clicking on offense yet. Better be a good halftime speech by Painter.

Curious if anyone counted how many times we passed out of the post in the first half?

When AJ didn't pass out to Vince that one time. I knew we were in for a long game.

Evening out would be taking away their strengths (Valentine pushing off, Forbes traveling) just as (size) has been. The entire complexity of a game is changed when you decide a big isn't getting fouled just because he's big.

What I am seeing is yes you want to get the ball into the post. But the post players need to trust the swing players to hit the open shot. Too much throwing into post not kicking it back out to open shooter. Shooters need to also move and get open. Not enough trust; Ball sticking. Grant Hill pointed out that was AJ's fault on that hard pick for not letting PJ know Costello was there. This is for the BIG 10 Championship. Mich St is a top 4 team. Purdue wants respect? Go out there move the ball, play well and win the game!!!

The shot chart distribution from the 1st half doesn't look all that bad. 9 misses in the paint & 0-fer from 3 make it really tough to win though...but no reason for that to duplicate itself in the 2nd half.

Boilerpt Purdue is not playing well on offense against a good def team. That's why they are losing. Not because Valentine is pushing off or Forbes traveling. Purdue gets their head down when they aren't hitting shots.

No major complaints to this point about officials, Izzo, etc. AJ has to set up lower, everyone make some shots. Just getting outplayed.

I've often wondered how any of the players can hear anything out there in that din. Screw Costello. I hope Haas gets the opportunity to give him some of his own medicine.

Watch AJ closely. His pics aren't against a man. His back is to the ball when he walks down the lane. His knees aren't bent when his man doesn't have th ball.
