Boilerman 73

I had a sales manager once who gave me the best advice I ever received:
Be BRIEF, Be BRILLIANT, Be GONE .....

Emphasis on the Be BRILLIANT!!!
I had a business communications professor with a totally different viewpoint.

if you are in sales , you should be brief and allow the product to sell itself. Much like in realty, you allow the house to sell itself, and you are brief because you do not want to talk about its faults.

however, when in the military or federal government, you write everything in 80 page requests. I blame being part of the federal budget process for my lengthy wordiness. Once part of the swamp, it's hard to change.

but back to my business communications professor. It was a test question on every one of his tests. The #1 consideration in communications is to "know your audience!"

the majority here like one sentence posts, and many here are bullies who like to call people names. and some here post when they're drunk and feeling good. You can post an innocent question about Gelen Robinson, and some here will get all over your case. as if you're a F..ing idiot. the problem is, you're not all like that certain poster. So it's hard to determine the style of the posts I should post. one thing is certain, there are many readers here who never post anything. perhaps, my style of writing pleases them. they never complain.

Looking back, I'm not a concise guy. Even outside this board. if I were to be concise, that would not be me. Either ignore me, or accept me for who I am. And if yo u choose to disagree with my point, all I ask is that you take the time to read my entire post first, and my main point is usually in my conclusion paragraph.

When your audience is C-level, they want the executive summary. They don't like damn salesmen who take up their time. They do appreciate brilliance... Especially combined with brevity.

73 is a troll plain and simple. This forum is quickly falling in to the pits anyway, but letting him continue to post here is an embarrassment.

When we lose it's bad enough on here then you add in his antics and it makes a bad situation worse. Thankfully GBI is not the face of Purdue sports anymore and social media has taken it's place.

Wolegib is just a long winded blowhard that tries to cover up his lack of knowledge by throwing a bunch of words at you.

So your options are basically this, put them on the not very efficient ignore feature, stop coming here completely or do what I did and find one of the many other and better avenues for discussing Purdue sports and take this site for what it has turned in to, a place that used to be great but has quickly fallen in to the pits. Which is really a shame because it all could be so easily fixed.

LOL! I stopped reading his novels a while ago. I then got to thinking - who has time to write so much everyday (and say so little)? Does he get paid by the word?

Your google must be a lot better than my google. And that doesn't elevate the status of this site, just means I haven't been able to find either many or better sites.

Not so much a 'forum' in the traditional sense anymore, that is the difference I guess. It's more social media than anything else but they are out there and in reading some of the back and forth with Eastern's mom, she even made mention of finding other sites.

I guess I don't understand why you are here complaining rather than posting on one of the "many other and better avenues for discussing Purdue sports..."
There are many posts that I don't agree with and many posters that strike me as pretty offensive. Whenever a poster causes me much distress I simply don't read their posts. Actually, for the most part I like seeing some opinions that are not in line with mine. More than once I have changed my mind about things.
It's the rudeness and incivility that I take issue with, not the viewpoint or length of post.
Let the trolls post. I can use a laugh and when I don't find it enjoyable to be here, I won't be here.

I blame this whole situation with Treed on him. That sob should be banned from this message board. He did nothing but antagonize her and others all day long. Why didn't the Admins do something to put a stop to It? I suggest that everyone one this board quit responding to that pos. Put him on ignore!!
Ummm, she posted that she was going to stay off the board once the season began. She should have just stayed off the board as she said she would. Everybody has a right to post, no matter positive or negative. Some of you bullies NEED to get lives instead of policing message boards for something that peeves you off. Geesh.

I think I found his photo:

You are just another holier than thou bully. You say to put him on ignore and then you start posting photos (implying he is some sort of dweeb or some sort). Get a life.

Thanks!!! one of my jobs in the military was writing tech manuals , Air Force regulations, and history reports. I was trained and also received a lot of awards for my inclusion of detail. As a college professor, my tests were usually 12-15 pages long. My pen is mightier than the sword you just fell on.
Complaining because posts are too long and coherent? Certain posters really NEED to get lives.

He is on ignore and crossed several lines. Maybe you should get all the facts before jumping to conclusions eh? But if that bothers you, methinks you need thicker skin to be on the internet .

And I have a wonderful life ....thanks.

Because I can. And trust me I spend much more time elsewhere than I do here posting. As do quite a few really.

It's the rudeness and incivility that I take issue with, not the viewpoint or length of post.
And that is exactly why 73 has been called out, constantly, by many on here.

This is the third post in a row where I consider you bullying and trying to shut down other people from posting their opinion. Stop it.

Wait. Does what I just did qualify as bullying?

Not even close. No middle school name calling - no illogical irrational assumptions - advice is based on solid and credible evidence
