I had a business communications professor with a totally different viewpoint.I had a sales manager once who gave me the best advice I ever received:
Be BRIEF, Be BRILLIANT, Be GONE .....
Emphasis on the Be BRILLIANT!!!
if you are in sales , you should be brief and allow the product to sell itself. Much like in realty, you allow the house to sell itself, and you are brief because you do not want to talk about its faults.
however, when in the military or federal government, you write everything in 80 page requests. I blame being part of the federal budget process for my lengthy wordiness. Once part of the swamp, it's hard to change.
but back to my business communications professor. It was a test question on every one of his tests. The #1 consideration in communications is to "know your audience!"
the majority here like one sentence posts, and many here are bullies who like to call people names. and some here post when they're drunk and feeling good. You can post an innocent question about Gelen Robinson, and some here will get all over your case. as if you're a F..ing idiot. the problem is, you're not all like that certain poster. So it's hard to determine the style of the posts I should post. one thing is certain, there are many readers here who never post anything. perhaps, my style of writing pleases them. they never complain.
Looking back, I'm not a concise guy. Even outside this board. if I were to be concise, that would not be me. Either ignore me, or accept me for who I am. And if yo u choose to disagree with my point, all I ask is that you take the time to read my entire post first, and my main point is usually in my conclusion paragraph.
