Biggie Ten Tournament starts Friday!!!

"Don't force it, FEEL it" should be Calebs motto for the rest of the season and we will be BTT Champs as well as a FF contender.

As long as he isn't guarding Wagner! lol
Yes...assuming they will play each other the first thing I'll look for is who is Biggie guarding. Does the coaching staff think they had the best approach and it didn't work out due to some outstanding shooting by Wagner or do they just pitch it and put Vince on him and think they can help down low if Wagner takes Vince low. I don't know anything really about Michigan...well very little, but guessing Wagner is the real threat from the outside...along with Irvin and that Wilson even if he goes outside is not the threat. My money says Vince guards Wagner, but suspect Purdue is more focused and Michigan plays like Michigan away and Wagner doesn't go off. STill, your point will be my most interested at the start of the game... :)

Even if Michigan were to shoot as well as last time we could win the game if we play well.

I called Belichek - he said, forget EVERYONE ELSE and stop Wagner ... whatever you do, just stop Wagner ...

Biggie is not a one man wrecking crew!!!! I think Dakota and Vinnie have been more key to Purdue's recent wins!!! They both continue playing well,,,,,,,we win The Big Tourney.

I am just happy that I no longer have to be scared about games that come down to free throws. I feel if we have a lead late and the opposition starts fouling, we can hold on to win.

Hi -

Knock on wood.

Thanks.

Ha. The thing is that with their team that player that hits five 3's in a half could be just about anyone. Just happened to be Wagner in that game. They are going to get their looks from deep somewhere and we have to pick and choose who to pay most attention to. If we choose to pay special attention to Wagner, then Walton could hurt us with penetration. Or Zak Irvin could get loose if we try to help from elsewhere on those Walton/Wagner ball screens. Choices to be made and we made the wrong one that day in Ann Arbor but that doesn't mean it would or wouldn't be the wrong one should we play them on Friday.

The bigger issue at Michigan was we didn't make them pay on the other end of the court. Haas and Swanigan got almost nothing inside in the first half and our guards did nothing until Carsen Edwards got a roll when it was almost too late. I guarantee if we execute offensively against Michigan we will score and it will probably make them less effective shooting on the other end of the court as well. We just set it up too nicely for them in Ann Arbor by spotting them a big lead and never really putting real pressure on them.

I think Biggie is a one man wrecking crew, but Dakota and Vince have helped knock down many walls... ;)

We seem to respond well after losses with a couple wins. As long as we can get 1 win in the BTT I wouldn't be all that upset if we were to lose a game assuming the opponent is good. I have a harder time seeing us win the BTT and 6 games in the NCAA tourney all in a row. Sprinkle a loss in the BTT and I can see a 6 game streak being more probable than 10.

I have wondered if this team can focus that long as well...because without the intense focus they are beatable

Get through this weekend then you take it one week at a time. Each week in the Dance is another season. Focus shouldn't be that big of a deal if you approach it in segments.

Easier said than done and I just read out of the last 5 champions only Louisville won their conference tourney.

Purdue needs him bigh time...he is an unknown to many in hte NCAA and Purdue needs an effective X factor like that
I have a hard time believing that Biggie "is an unknown to many in the NCAA", although I am not sure what "in the NCAA" means. Anybody who follows the NCAA knows who Biggie is. He is talked about and written about frequently in the media, in large part due to his story from 360 pound 8th grade to 4 star recruit to his 24 double-doubles. If you follow college basketball at all you have to know who he is. He was on CBS evening news for crying out loud and is in most discussions on player of the year. He just made USA Today All American team. How can he be an unknown?

I will say that at the beginning of the season, I thought that our only shot at NCAA tourney success this year was is if Biggie put us on his back and carried us through the journey. My only concern since then has been how he plays out of the double team and he has made progress with regards to that. Otherwise his game has been solid and his work ethic extraordinary. He has the potential to elevate his game going forward, which could make it a special March for Purdue. It will be riveting to watch.

Just for fun, here's the list from the last time a Big Ten team won (Michigan State - '00) with the conference tournament result included:

Most of the time in this recent survey, the tournament champ made it to its conference championship game, and about half the time, won it. Michigan State also won the BTT in 2000.

'16 - Villanova (lost Big East championship game)

'15 - Duke (lost ACC semi-finals)

'14 - Connecticut (lost AAC championship game)

'13 - Louisville (won Big East championship)*

'12 - Kentucky (lost SEC championship game)

'11 - Connecticut (won Big East championship)*

'10 - Duke (won ACC championship)*

'09 - North Carolina (lost ACC semi-finals)

'08 - Kansas (won Big XII championship)*

'07 - Florida (won SEC championship)*

'06 - Florida (won SEC championship)*

'05 - North Carolina (lost ACC semi-finals)

'04 - Connecticut (won Big East championship)*

'03 - Syracuse (lost Big East semi-finals)

'02 - Maryland (lost ACC semi-finals)

'01 - Duke (won ACC championship)*

I need to go back and see what I wrote...thought I was talking about Haas and playing against him is unlike anything they have experieinced. Maybe it wasn't clear?

This was from above..

And Isaac has knocked down many a lesser man.

Ah, Isaac, not Biggie. Agreed. Misread on my part. Sorry.
No problem...it is just that I have praised Biggie a lot and I thought...did I somehow get things mixed up doing more than one thing at a time. :)
