Here's the salaries of the top 8 paid coaches in the college game for 2024. The real question is will the NIL PU boosters anti up to take PU to the top level of programs and get a coach of this caliber?

After the Walters hiring by Bo and ultimate failure with two years of wasted time and money, and hiring Brohm knowing he'd leave for da' Ville, will he be allowed to go big or will he have to go cheap again and stay home?

I've said it for a long time that PU should be at the top of the league and not basement boys because they're too cheap to get a good one.

The highest-paid college football head coaches in 2024 are123:
  1. Kirby Smart (Georgia) - Salary: $13,000,000
  2. Dabo Swinney (Clemson) - Salary: $11,132,775
  3. Steve Sarkisian (Texas) - Salary: $10,600,000
  4. Lincoln Riley (USC) - Salary: $10,043,418
  5. Ryan Day (Ohio State) - Salary: $10,021,250
  6. Mike Norvell (Florida State) - Salary: $10,000,000
  7. Kalen DeBoer (Alabama) - Salary: $10,000,000
  8. Brian Kelly (LSU) - Salary: $9,975,000

It's time for Bo and the NIL money to get off the toilet and get someone woh can change the climate. If they're not willing to do that, maybe it's time to continue settling.

The problem is they are all better jobs than coaching at Purdue.

You forgot to add that "lowlife" school you love so much pays their HC $8M/yr ... you can bet the agent to the new prospective coach at Purdue will have all the specs of that IU contract written down as negotiations. After all, you have a much better history in football ... money talks and bullshit walks as they say. Don't forget the $9M you still owe Walters.

I don't see why we should pay more NIL for a 1-11 program. Production leads to more pay. Not incompetence. The AD can do whatever they like with paying the coaches but I'm hoping donors refuse to give more to pay players.

Because if you don't pay, you're not going to get. Either you do or you continue to become just another losing program. Like Indinia was for so many years as they dwelled in the basement. The Haze, The Hope, Walters....common thread same results.

I agree about the production equals more money BUT the current landscape of college football and even basketball, these agents/coaches are demanding the NIL pot already be in place because if it is not, they feel they are starting behind other coaches. A school like Washington in football's NIL was so bad this year they hired a GM to do nothing but start a program and raise money. Even before the football season was over the two NIL Collectives for IU was sending out campaigns to raise more money. It is the new way of doing business and IMO but I am old, it sucks.

That's fine. I can think of better things to spend money on than funding minor league sports. You can throw all the money you want at trying to keep up with everyone else though. Have fun!

Having your alma mater be good at buying athletes is clearly important to some people. Kinda embarrassing.

If you don't pony up NIL, then you lose your best players (or don't attract new ones) to programs that will. It's the world we live in with college sports now. Gotta pay to play.

Edey got paid well. He also got paid once he produced. Not before.

What's the point of paying any players for 1-11? If we don't pony up millions are they going to lose that Indiana State game next time? What's the value of that one win?

If that's your philosophy, then every pro (or college) contract would pay a minimal salary and all be loaded with performance incentives. It doesn't work that way.

I detest the NIL and what it's done to college sports. I'm just waiting for a sleazebag lawyer to file a suit against a HS governing body to get them paid for likeness.

Money should be no issue. The TV deal is huge and JPC is like 80M a year for all giving. This money stuff is nonsense. Find a good staff!

I’m not a Nil fan. I doubt any of the players who were paid big money gave any of that money back when they didn’t produce. I also don’t like paying coaches a big salary until they have a proven winning success.

Maybe that means we will lose out on a lot of players. Look at the money Pack received to play for Miami. The money didn’t come from Miami. It came from a rich booster who wanted to use the player to advertise his uncial firm.

I have said it many times before. If a player really wants to make money, they can make their own nil deals. They don’t need colleges to do it for them.

Edey made several personal nil deals.

I’m dead set against players demanding money to attend a school. If a player wants more than a college education, let them hire an agent to make their money for them. Curre they have handlers, lawyers and advisors. Is that the same thing as an agent?

It’s time colleges got out of the paying athletes business and let the athletes find their own money!

I don't think Purdue will go that high, but they need to get in the $7.5 to 8.5 million range to get above the mid tier salaries for the big ten. With Cignetti's new contract, there are 9 coaches making over $7 million. Walter's contract was only above Foster's at UCLA.

Please— in the name of everything holy, take back this poseur…

A report on X said no public sources have reported or know of any vetting of potential coaches going on. It was a long 3 pages of content posted as jpg's .... BOT and AD wanted Walters to stay but the Prez did not. It also mentioned the IU game results might have cemented his fate from being on thin ice. MONEY IS NO OPTION ... but that might be old news to you as I did not see the ADs press conference that was posted here. The lack of vetting thing though IMO puts you hiring after the transfer portal window for visits and meeting the new coaching staff.

if we dont pony up, then we might not even beat isu. guess you have to decide if you even want a football team at purdue. it is unfortunate that nil rules college sports but you might as well drop football if you dont want to pay. if private donors want to give their money, then let them.

Perhaps you should watch the AD's press conference and his interview from a month ago to get up to speed. Do you care to enlighten us with what journalist posted this "report on X"? I'm sure it was a reputable source...

A press conference held today reports that this is a load of crap.

As for Walters, he may have taken a substantial cut just to get out of West Lafayette. I don't love IU and agree that if Purdue doesn't go big this time, with a proven, winning coach, they might as well join the MAC if the MAC will have them.

Forget all the iu loosiers and trolls.

Purdue will pay around 5 to 7 mil a year. Walters was paid less because of the situation. He was a high risk candidate that failed catastrophically. We were late in the hiring cycle and a handful of targets said thanks but no thanks for whatever reason. We will never know who or how much but is presume we were willing to offer brohms 7 to 8 mill but it wasn't about money. And the top targets were getting 5 to 7 mill.

And if you exceed expectations we will pay you roughly top 5 B1G pay.

Colleges are just like the pros now in all sports except the NHL. Some owners are willing and able to pay millions past the cap and are doing so. It ruined the 49ers for years when the Super Bowl Welsch sp era was over but the bills due were not. The Dodgers, Yankees, Mets and a few other NFL teams do regularly. Colleges that want to, find a way to 1) pay BIG dollars for Coaches and their Staff and large NIL deals for the players and those that can't or won't will suffer most of the time!
