Anyone else notice more people wearing Purdue gear ?

A year or so ago I ran into 7 Purdue people in Italy and 2 Butler. There may have been IU people there, but I only ventured into the well lit areas where there was some history and good food.
Two years ago you say, well the two wearing the Butler gear most likely were IU fans.

They were outside Chicago and had a son at Butler studying data analytics, but know exactly what you mean. ;)

The furthest from 'home' I remember seeing someone with Purdue gear was walking across the Chain Bridge in Budapest and got to exchange a "Boiler Up" with a couple of other alums.

Pretty rare I see anyone wearing Purdue in H-town, but I know there's quite a few alums in the area. Guess they're waiting to show out here in April.
We lived in Sugar Land up until last year and saw a few Purdue flags in the neighborhood. I’d wear Purdue gear and would get an occasional Boiler Up! Might have to make a trip back in April if things go as hoped.

Not in my neck of the woods. The two Purdue fans I know, one basically never watched but will keep track a little of the box scores on his phone and the other only watches if he's home and the Celtics aren't playing and I'm not sure he could name 5 dudes on the team.
You only know 2 Purdue fans? What neck of the woods is this?

You definitley need to get out more.

I interact with 2 almost daily. I guess I know a 3rd. Southern Indiana....

1. Indiana
2. Kentucky
3. Louisville
4. Purdue/Notre Dame
5. Ohio State

Yep. You definitely need to get out more. That's a closed little society you live in. Obviously scientists and engineers aren't in big demand in your neck of the woods, and probably not business people of Krannert quality. But surely you know a veteranarian, pharmacist, or even someone with an agriculture background who attended college.

I guess the more I think about it... You could stretch it to like 5 people I know. One is a pharmacist. 3 of them have literally zero affiliation with Purdue. Not a thing. Didn't go there, no friends or family who did.

I am 53 YO. Born and raised in Terre Haute, IN. Growing up, lots of people wore the iu stuff. Now, you see Purdue a lot (shirts, license plates, etc). Young, middle aged, old, etc. If you see iu shirts in Terre Haute now, its usually older people (60+).

People DO like bandwagons for sure.

Anytime and everytime I encounter a person with a PUrdue shirt, jacket or hat, I state..."nice looking shirt" or such and they smile and say "thank you" and then I follow with I like seeing people dressed up.
I am the same way, tj. My second comment is "BSME74". They then realize I am alumni and we compare degrees. Then the typical "Boiler Up, Hammer Down", and off we go with big smiles.-+
