Amber Alert!

Loyer is missing! Four shots, against a mid-major, is very hard to fathom. He's way too good of a shooter to have so few attempts. The team needs to find a way to get him many more shots in the next game.

very disappointing play by one of our leaders. Sad.

Hope he follows it up with a monster game

His lack of foot speed could be a big problem guarding these quick Mc State kids. If that's who it ends up to be?

He will have a chance to hit some 3s against them though. Hope he takes advantage. He will be needed.
But his defense!!! Focus on him for a couple of possessions ...

He got schemed out. They made sure not to let him shoot. Not great on defense tho.

I expect a bounce back game from him.
I mean why isn't the next team just going to scheme him out? He has to find a way to play better defense and find a way to get open. I do agree we need to run some sets designed to get him open. But if scheming on him is just play him for the three, that's just defense.

Exactly why he needs to become a scorer. He needs to be more efficient on both sides of the court. We just can't have our 3rd best scorer not getting points and we should feel lucky it was against HP.

We just can't have Smith and Loyer struggling shooting the ball like today and expect to advance.

People lose their minds when you criticize Loyer like no other player on the team.

He’s part of the big 3. You pick your poison on how you stop the em and hope the others don’t step up.

You typically can’t stop all 3 unless you’re Auburn. They tried to limit our 3PAs today and made sure to not let Loyer get many—he took 1. We drove the lane and also dumped it to TKR, as well as open shooters not named Loyer—-aka we took what they gave us.

Don’t need to say “people lose their mind” when Loyer is criticized. I can easily say Loyer didn’t play great at all today. He’s also not playing 100%. But they also made sure he couldn’t get going or get many open looks by making it difficult for him.

Not Fletcher’s best game but the hyperbole here is over the top.

All I saw was they told his defender, don't let him shoot threes. Their main focus was pretty clearly TKR and Braden. Heide got multiple open threes. Colvin got open threes. Braden got open threes. Harris had a wide open three.

I'm not buying that they sold out to stop Loyer. Now did we run anything for Loyer? No, not really. He just played poorly as he did against Michigan. The long stretch before that he played pretty decently and I don't think teams just decided to start playing him tough the last two games.

So yeah, he's had two bad games. I don't think he's in a slump but I do think he needs to shake whatever funk he's in off if we're going to win going forward.

I will say when any other player has a bad game folks are willing to say it. When Fletch does it's well they were scheming to stop him. And no I'm not addressing you directly, I'm speaking generally.

He sucked on defense and he took only 4 shots total on offense. 1 being a 3. He had an off shooting night.

Again, the kid is not 100%. He’s probably having to adjust to that injury. But the others were open from kick outs. It could have even situational, which happens in games.

Braden and TKR will always be the focus, but both have the ball in their hands way more than fletch and it’s easier to not allow him to do what he does best, which is shoot it. It happens.

It’s a new season every game. Survive and advance. That’s all that matters at this point. No matter how it’s done. Here’s to hoping he plays a lot better on Saturday.

He made all his free throws when it was an adventure for everyone else

I'll take it a step further. Two of our starters took 35 shots. The other three starters took 6. This can't be our offense, right?
Hey, wait a minute. We played the #112 defense in the nation, but our shooter made our offense look great. According to the 'great one'.

This I do find problematic and pretty predictable allowing the other team to try to scheme to defend and focus on. The more they see you using more options the more they will have to focus on having solutions to disrupt everything.

Don’t think it’s changing this year tho. Paints always going to have our two best scorers get the most opportunities, though.

We'll likely find out on Saturday if he's injured. As you've said, I don't think anyone is saying that Fletcher played well or that this team doesn't need more from him to keep advancing.

I'm fine with some or most here thinking I'm an asshole, they're probably right. I don't know what to tell people who can't or won't understand that when you have the best passer in the country and likely the most efficient two-point scorer in the country, the ability to hold defenders because they can't sag off of an elite shooter opens up the whole offense. This team just put up 75 on a night where they missed a ton of open looks that they normally make.
