Am I the only person who checks daily......

You forget. The first thing that happens is Walters hires new assistant coaches.

Purdue isn’t going to replace him mid season. So I recommend you go to bed and get some sleep.

Welp….the good news, tomorrow is Friday which means the weekend is almost here.

With our luck, Brian will get Purdue bowl- eligible annually against top- shelf competition, recruit like dogshit after year three, then promptly bolt for Louisville to replace his sainted brother when he retires…
I wasn’t recommending we hire Brian Brohm now, to be clear.

Hopefully the "more time" means just until the end of the season....
I still think this is just PR. What are they gonna say? Our coach sucks and we're gonna fire him....but not yet. We're just going to leave him to wither on the vine until keeping him on becomes completely untenable?

And I would 100% expect Maryland would allow him to interview for Purdue HC job early. I would also have expected sumljn would make that a condition of his hiring (permission to interview for HC job). Regardless there are enough feelers out there purdue could hire him immediately after their final game

Sumlin was a complete washout at Arizona. No!!!

Thought I remembered that. Yeah, not a chance I’d want him as HC of this program. He’d be better than Walters but I’m not convinced how much.
Agree. He definitely needs to take care of himself before he is given another shot at running a football program.

But if you look closely, he had a couple of magical seasons early on at Texas A&M and since then has been pretty mediocre as a head coach. I'd look elsewhere.

Yeah my perception was he was good at recruiting ready made skill position players, but those OLs were mostly courtesy of Mike Sherman…and when those were gone, things started to slide…

Please! No retreads! These guys...Sumlin, Spack, Chaney, Olson...have had their days at Purdue. But bringing them back would be a mistake. Would feel like a Fred Akers hire.
I wouldn’t count that against someone. Especially guys who have proven to bring some success to their work while formerly at Purdue. Was Matt Painter a retread?

What about Pat Fitzgerald
he's busy with his suit against NW and I'd think most ADs would hold off hiring him until after his court case is resolved. There are 40 players that made accusations of hazing. If his suit goes to trial, the details of what he knew and when he knew it can come out. Some of those stories already out there don't make him look good.

Tiller was a bounce back and that seemed to work. In general, I agree with what you wrote, but Chaney would be a solid choice for OC.

You would take Drew Brees as an OC, right?
If I were the Bobinski, my first phone call would be to Brees for HC. He's got the name recognition to turn around the recruiting train wreck, he's wealthy enough that he'd probably work for peanuts and he's been a huge Purdue fan for decades.

I am sure he wouldn't take it, but I think Bobinski should call Brees to ask for advice on the next HC and staff.

Ideally, we would have a football executive making that decision. I love Brees, but how much time is he spending watching G5 football ?

I would suspect quite a bit, on the best home theater money can guy.

He must have an extensive network of contacts. In any event, I am just saying contact him for advice.
