Wouldn't be mad about getting an athlete to develop
prolly not, it's just someone that made some plays vs us and he's a young 4 star . I don't think we are going to get a 15 pt/gm 6 rb/gm player from wherever so I was thinking of a kid that can play and learn in limited minutes this yr then produce the next 2 yrs and would be a cost effective option, just an ideaAre we looking at him?
There’s the 20M rev sharing cap (I may be comepletly wrong) that goes into effect July 1. But teams can still do the NIL route, however they are trying to spend a lot of it now too.Is there a salary cap on a school in a particular sport for NIL? I ask because I see a Southern IL player
is looking for a cool $1 million...
No cap yet.....Is there a salary cap on a school in a particular sport for NIL? I ask because I see a Southern IL player

Yeah the prices kids are demanding now is wild….he could have been an awesome piece to our run but I’ll take Mayer any dayIs there a salary cap on a school in a particular sport for NIL? I ask because I see a Southern IL player

Sasha and official Purdue account following …
If this kid was on the floor with Smith, Loyer, Mayer and either TKR, Cluff or Jacobsen, how often is he gonna get GREAT looks? 6'8" with a quick shot. This isn't as splashy as Cluff or Mayer, but it could still be a really good add, and a very well defined role for the team.Might be a good add, 15 minute a game player that can shoot.
Yep, someone happy to be here with a shot to contribute on a team that hopefully makes a deep run. Now we’ll see if Harris sticks it out, sure hope he does.If this kid was on the floor with Smith, Loyer, Mayer and either TKR, Cluff or Jacobsen, how often is he gonna get GREAT looks? 6'8" with a quick shot. Murphy is a done deal. Just a matter of when.
You've been spot on so far, is he our last add? Do you think Harris sticks?Murphy is a done deal. Just a matter of when.
Murphy will complete the set. I imagine Harris stays. You've been spot on so far, is he our last add? Do you think Harris sticks?
Yeah didn’t want to 100% commit to it but it is all over X as a done deal 😂Murphy is a done deal. Just a matter of when.
Does that include endorsements?for salary cap purposes, a university receives so much money. it is then up to the university how to allocate that money. a school such as Ohio st allocates a larger % of their available NIL money to their football program and a lesser amount to their other sports. . if Purdue wants to find NIL money, they could reallocate some money they were going to give to their football players.
a player can still make their own individual endorsement deals. I'm just saying Purdue could reallocate some of their NIL funds if that's what it takes to add another significant basketball player. On the down side, I'm not sure Purdue would give $1 million out to a player who would not be starting. It would make more sense for Purdue to add somebody who is not looking for money or a lot of playing time. maybe a player who has only one year left. Purdue could really use a player like Gillis who could act as a mentor. Maybe Murphy is that player.Does that include endorsements?
Probably not.
Which means there is still no cap!!
You don't understand how it works. You continue to use NIL and University spending as if they are the same thing. They are not. NIL does not come from the school. The salary cap you are referring to is the $20.5 million per school that will be available later, but is not available yet. OSU is not "allocating" any NIL funds. The school doesn't control that money. Purdue is not "allocating" NIL between football and basketball either.for salary cap purposes, a university receives so much money. it is then up to the university how to allocate that money. a school such as Ohio st allocates a larger % of their available NIL money to their football program and a lesser amount to their other sports. . if Purdue wants to find NIL money, they could reallocate some money they were going to give to their football players.
Murphy would have 1 year of eligibility left. He would not be a back-up for TKR. He's 6'7" and shoots 3's. He would be a good player to come off the bench and add shooting. 42% 3 point shooter on high volume. North Florida last year. What class is Murphy…and where did he play last year?? This would assure a solid backup to Kaufman-Renn whereas Burgess having played sparingly…wasn’t a given to provide quality minutes.
42% on 7.7 3PAs is crazy 😂Murphy would have 1 year of eligibility left. He would not be a back-up for TKR. He's 6'7" and shoots 3's. He would be a good player to come off the bench and add shooting. 42% 3 point shooter on high volume. North Florida last year.
With the offensive power we should have, a defense like that should provide what the doc ordered for another FF.42% on 7.7 3PAs is crazy 😂
I hope we can play defense next year like we did vs Houston…
Looks like Caleb Furst. But apparently has a 3 point shot.
If Caleb first went to Florida on vacation kinda lookI noticed the resemblance to Caleb Furst…
what's the difference other than semantics ?You don't understand how it works. You continue to use NIL and University spending as if they are the same thing. They are not. Maybe look that up before confidently posting BS that you know nothing about. There is currently no “salary cap” for NIL. That would only happen if there is collective bargaining. NIL and revenue sharing are two completely different things. So the difference is literally everything.what's the difference other than semantics ?
Thank you. He has no clue what he is talking about!Maybe look that up before confidently posting BS that you know nothing about. There is currently no “salary cap” for NIL. I never said there was a cap! Maybe you need to retake a reading comprehension course! I have also pointed out all players can make their own private NIL deals outside of what they receive from a school. Pack went to Miami and received a nice NIL deal from a financial businessman. Miami didn’t give him the money, the businessman did. That same businessman made other deals. The player going to BYU made a nice private deal with NIKE. There is no ceiling as to what a player might receive on their own. There is a ceiling as to what schools and their associated booster groups can provide.Maybe look that up before confidently posting BS that you know nothing about. Schools are not "allocating" any money yet. That part of the equation hasn't begun yet. The 20.5M cap per school, has not started yet. So when you keep saying that schools are allocating money to different sports, you are incorrect. That isn't how it works yet.I never said there was a cap! Look at Painter. He gets a salary. Where does that salary come from? You could say Purdue or you could say the JPC or some other booster groups. Does the JOC exist if Purdue didn’t exist? Sure it could, but logically it wouldn’t. In addition to his salary, there is nothing stopping Painter from making his own seperate deals. He could be like Knight and make sweater and shoe deals. He has basketball camps. He’s a part of the U.S. Olympic staff. He has other sources of money besides just his salary.
So it is with college athletes. There is a given pool of money that can be allocated anyway. The sports administrators want to allocate it. Purdue allocates a lot more of that money to its basketball team than most colleges do. That being said, players are free to make their own deals. So realistically there does exist a cap on certain funds. But that cap doesn’t prevent a player from going outside the box in an effort to make more money.
You have a job. Most jobs don’t prevent you from seeking a second job or seeking a second income. You could have a job and also own rental property. In this example, your salary is a defined cap, but it doesn’t prevent you from creating more personal revenue
