2025 Transfer portal thread

I think you’re right. I recall maybe a leg or foot injury that lingered and Furst was more ready at the start of the season.
Seems like it was a broken finger in the Indiana All Star game months earlier. I believe it was to convert him to a stretch four because Zach and Trey where ahead of him at the 5.

Is it an absolutely "no contact period", or does the rule only state that coaches cannot contact players? Can the players contact coaches -- to make a commitment, for example?
It’s they can’t meet in person/recruit in person but virtual meetings are good. I am sure it’s just the coaches reaching out to their agents and that’s how it starts…probably a loophole.

Not sure why it’s even there in the first place if they can still talk virtually 😂

Who do you feel Purdue need to land in the transfer portal to give them a #1 transfer class? Or, is the remaining talent just not out there any longer for that to happen?

Likely no one as we only would get 1 more guy. It would have to be like an RJ Luis Jr (if he were to not get drafted) and he isn't coming to Purdue.

I don't know specific names, but a 6'8+ scoring wing who can also rebound and run the floor. Another solid ball handler to give Smith a breather

Don’t really care about being the #1 transfer class. More about who will fit with the team to make it better at a deep run to the NC next year. They could be 705th for all I care. But if that means they make the team get to the NC, then I’m good with that.

Top transfer classes don’t = most success.

You can still sign players…they just can’t talk to coach in person.

In watching that Camden video, he looks like a very good shooter who could really help. A lot of his threes were under some pressure or were from very deep, which makes his 42% from 3 that much more impressive. He also appears to be able to help in other ways, though I don’t have a sense of his defense.

If he chooses to come to Purdue will need to be willing to come in and really compete for minutes, but he looks like he has the talent to do so.

I agree. I think that he could be a very valuable added piece. Mayer would be a huge get, but also need a Camden or Srzentic both with some size and have some different attributes. If they all want to come, I'd take all 3 ;)

Why do people assume that every transfer who considers Purdue has to be willing to be the 4th or 5th option on offense and willing to settle for scraps?

TKR and Loyer are not the best center and shooting guards in the nation. Yes, they're very good, with Loyer being the easiest replaced. But if a transfer comes in and proves to be a better option at those positions, they can and should get the playing time they deserve if that's what best for the team.
We always hear that Painter doesn't make anyone promises to recruits. Does include to current players as well?

I saw where his 3 prior years at high major Memphis and VT he averaged 1ppg. Really nice film this last year when he got chance to play though.

My 3 cent opinion is if Purdue gets Mayer I think I would prefer the Virgina kid for some more muscle/athleticism to go along with shooting at the forward spot. He looks like he moves well and could gaurd the Ace Bailey forward/wingd of the world if needed.

With Mayer, Painter likely goes to his traditional base 3 gaurd lineup where 5 guys can all dribble/pass/shoot in the rotation for those 3 spots.

If Mayer goes elsewhere, you need some more guys who can score off dribble and this Deleware kid could fit nice at forward 3/4 along with another transfer gaurd for depth. He seems like a Heide replacement with a better handle. Not sure how he rebounds/defends though.

TKR is like top 5 man we ain't getting anyone better in the portal.

Painter is never not starting Loyer.

You missed the point. Nothing will be guaranteed to Camden and he will join a talented roster if he comes, but that does not mean that he has to settle for scraps.

he had the most made field goals in the nation and scored on anyone in the country. He was severely underrated and is the best scoring PF next year. He was a first team all big ten this year, will be as well next year and competing vs Braden for BTPOTY. He will be a top 5 player next year, hell let’s just say top 10 for your sake. And will compete for a 1st AA spot as well as the NPOTY with Braden.

If you can’t see that he’s a top player at his position in the country next year, I don’t know what to tell you.

Listen how is someone going to say painter is not going to get a transfer guy jones was a transfer guy purdue is set at the 4 and 5 and at the point guard position so all they need is a guy who can play small forward they will found one
