I guess I'll start this thread to keep any potential info/updates/players in one area.

A potential target - IU Indy's Katie Davidson and Faith Stinson are in the portal. Davidson, a 5'10 guard, I believe would be a GS - averaged 19.9 ppg and 4 rpg. Stinson a 6-2 forward averaged 9 ppg 5 rpg.

A PG of note that entered is Wofford's SR Rachael Rose - a 5'7 true PG. She only played 6 games this year but averaged 22 ppg, 8 rpg, 5 apg last year. In her shortened season this year she had big games against the likes of South Carolina (20 pts, 8 reb) and Duke (23 pts in 29 mpg).

I would suspect these are the level players we will be after. Trying to find the next Ellis.

Let’s hope we can do better.

At this point - KG has proven NOTHING as a HC. I would be shocked if we can do much better than a 2x SoCon POY. We are in absolutely no position to nab P4 elite transfers. Rose may be a pipe dream for all we know. She has played very good against P4 competition. She had the GW shot when Wofford beat UVA at UVA a couple years ago - she recorded a near triple double against them with 21 pts 10 reb 9 ast. She had 24 pts 9 reb and 4 ast against Wake; 23 pts 13 reb 5 ast and 5 steals against Tennessee; 22 pts 12 reb 6 ast against UGA.

Let’s hope we can do better.
I don't know how we could. We are fishing without a hook or bait, just a naked line dangling in the water off a stick. Anybody we catch has to tie themselves on to the line.... We are not a train, we are a massive train wreck of a program at this point. When Pride and I agree that the program is bottoming out and CKG has proven herself a failure, you know its bad.

I don’t expect to do any better, but we need better if this program wants to stop the downward spiral.
Before you can think about getting better you have to stop getting worse. CKG’s first two years were hopeful. Remember she took over a program that had won just 7 games total the previous season, in a weaker big ten. And even that losing team lost some of its better players to the transfer portal. But the last two years have been brutal. We need to see some improvement, any kind of improvement before we can dream about getting competitive. Fortunately dreaming is still free...

Stop the downward spiral = stop getting worse. I don't expect anything; to expect we improve after two straight awful seasons with little to no player development would be insane. Saying we need better players does not mean I expect to get them. I expect to be horrible again next year and Gearlds to stick around until her contract expires, but who wants that to happen?

I think that’s what will happen if we don’t improve noticeably by the end of her contract. Purdue WBB doesn’t contribute to the bottom line enough. At best it is revenue-neutral. The prestige of the brand is what would force immediate intervention, but I don’t expect that from this administration. Their full attention is on the sports that pay the bills, as it should be

I NEVER SAID that KG is a failure. I said she has accomplished NOTHING to date to expect her to get impact P4 transfers this summer. A player like Rose is about what we can expect out of the portal considering where we are as a program and what our coaching staff has proven on the court.

Hmmm? What is your definition of failure from a paid BT college basketball coach? Not sure there would be a waiver here. If this was a business, I would say failure.

So far, I'm teetering on the side of calling her tenure a failure - averaging 6 conference wins over four years, with worse records for 3 years straight? Can't get much worse than that.

So are you saying she's a success or that you haven't seen enough to have an opinion on whether she is a good coach or not? Because I think the results at this point are pretty damning and conclusive. Please tell us all what you see in her that makes you think she is not an object failure as Purdue's head coach.

Actually Purdue progressively improved in Gearld's years one and two. Made the post season her first year and ncaa play in game in year two. The setback began her 3rd year and worsened last year when the conference became much stronger.

But were the first two years from good coaching or the bump of a new coach coupled with Ellis and Terry (recruited by Versyp) giving us a very good back court?

The lady boilers ship is starting to sink. The two Reynolds sisters and the sister that was coming next year are not coming.. now the floodgates open

Who knows, could be addition by subtraction. Neither of the two on the roster had shown much of anything. They'll probably be playing for their dad again soon.

I dropped my crystal ball on the floor and it shattered, so your guess is as good as any. Sadly as strong as the BIG is now, getting back to relevance in this conference looks like an impossible dream, even to a dreamer like me.

Not at all, we sit in a fertile recruiting ground, and a good coach who knows what they are doing and works hard can rebuild our program. The longer they leave the amateur in charge, the harder it will be for the next coach, but it is not at all impossible. We have it easier than Minnesota or Wisconsin that have much smaller talent bases and Iowa and others raid them hard for the few really goo recruits that appear in state.

Wow - MN/Wisc having 1 school to compete with in talent vs. Purdue who has.... Indiana/Illinois/MSU/Michigan/Louisville/Ohio State/Notre Dame - All tournament teams. All with recent major successes.

Yeah, I'd take Purdue's competition.... 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

If you think that UWisc and UMinn only have Iowa poaching their territory. You aren't half as in tune with women's basketball as you like to make everyone here believe. I only listed Iowa because traditionally they have had a many Minnesota kids as UMinn has.

Problem is I have no faith in Bobo the clown to care enough to even try to make a good hire. And even with a good AD its less than a 50/50 shot that who they hire works out in the long run.
Perhaps my opinion doesn't matter, but I find the persistent, derogatory name calling of the AD to be quite distasteful. Actually, I believe Bobinski has made some good hires...Brohm and I think Odom although its early to make that assessment. My guess is there were plans to have Grimes to be groomed for the next AD. However, from what I've read, she played an important role bringing Walters on board and is listed on the staff of the Women's Basketball program. Both are underwhelming hires. While Bobinski has the final sign-off, I could see him "delegating" certain programs to her to assess her ability to develop a successful program. That's speculation on my part, but I believe Bobinski has made some good hires.

I'll give you Brohm, but the utter shit show of turning over our first program to earn a national title to an NAIA coach, and that the only other person he looked at was the failed Stephanie White tells me he could not be bothered to spend any effort trying to find a competent coach. That coupled with Walter's hiring frankly earn him all the scorn and derision her gets here and far more imho.

Michael, besides a few people not many care these days about women’s hoops, it doesn’t make money, it looks like Purdue sort of decided to bail on it. I hope it changes, while it doesn’t compare to the men’s game I still enjoy women’s hoops when Purdue is doing well, watching this crap was very tough, there were times it looked like a Jr high team taking on varsity.

There is a really good girls seventh grade basketball coach at Battleground and I bet she’s willing to listen to offers.

Good morning everyone, Happy Friday!

This thread was specifically made to share information about potential portal prospects and then of course the usual perpetrators hijacked it. Please take your mess and hostile opinions elsewhere. Thanks.
I did not realize you were a moderator now to order others how they can or cannot interact with a thread on here. You even contributed to this threads divergent discussions, so you are being a pretty big hypocrite by casting shade on others.
