He’s never played a snap of college football. That’s what these guys should be doing imo. Go somewhere and put something on tape, then enter again to step up and get the money.

Too many kids think it’s greener on the other side and end up playing their last down of P4, G5 or even college football as a whole
Agree, but if you do want to leave, and you’re completely unproven, go somewhere and actually play. Davila may never play a snap. He could have stayed and competed, and been the back up at least. Now he has zero chance to play for at least 2 years. I mean he was the freaking 3rd string qb on a 1-11 team for gods sake.

I agree, just saying if you must transfer, go where you’re actually going to play.
Seems like he outmaneuvered himself here. Which if he thinks MTSU is a better path than staying here he likely wasn’t destined to be much anyhow.
Nick Levy, Sterling Smith, and Tra’mar Harris all were in the portal and withdrew.

Dang didn’t see Rigby entered until now. If I was to guess the guys that enter from now on most likely won’t be back after having the coach talk I am sure.
Obviously the offers weren’t there with no tape but he probably won’t be there long either. Could have been at LSU then comes to Purdue instead for a sh*t show of a season and still doesn’t see the field.
From what it sounds like there won’t be “the coach talk.” Odom seems like he genuinely wants to keep as many players as possible. Problem is some guys just don’t want to compete. Davila and Browne both seemed interested in staying but then bolted within 24 hours of odom saying he wanted to keep them because he needed 2-3 really good QBs and had a transfer QB on campus and a commitment. I suspect the same with Rigby. I think we still have a lot of talent at WR still.
Didn’t mean the “coach talk” as a bad thing but yes it sounds like Odom wants to keep as many current players as possible when you hear him talk…do you blame him!? He has a lot of roster filling ahead of him!
The problem with the transfer portal is that everyone is so over recruited and the majority of the kids that enter think the pasture is always greener on the other side so no mater what coaches do or say they have to fight a double sided sword.
Exactly. The coach talk may be, we see you as a valuable member of our roster but we will be bringing in a third starting caliber QB to be as competitive as possible. Some of these kids either shy away from competition or equate $ to their perceived value to the program and will sell themselves to the highest bidder.
I'd go after that psu transfer Pribula, Mabrey Mettauer Wisky who got an offer from Ark in 22

On another note, looks like we're adding some lineman and a TE that can block well. I like to see that.
Odom has a good staff it appears, should be many good players looking to play BIG ball that get PT, great school; Boiler up!!!
I would like to see some good WRs pickups now. There are some playmakers in the Portal, but will Purdue pay up for those WR 1s and WR 2s type pass catchers.
With Klare gone, we actually have lost the one WR (even though he was a TE) that could counted on to catch the ball and find seams in the defense. If we don't find some WRs, our dual threat QBs will be running every play.

…more like the only pass catcher that could consistently run a route, get open and then catch the ball. For a so called “passing offense” the route running was horrendous!! Cory Patterson might be a great fun guy to be around but our WR play sucked bad! Rigby must like him tho 🤷🏼♂️ following him to Oklahoma St.
Keep in mind, all 34 of those players came off of a 1-11 or 0-10 football team....
Word on the street is that Odom asked for collective support after explaining how he spent the UNLV money over the past two years.
Team need and player assessments alone will be greatly improved with Odom.

How did he spend the money the last 2 years? How does that difer from what we did.
I know google it myself. But I have not followed along with the arms race.
Check out the win loss columns for an inherently poor UNLV program over the past two seasons that doesn't have the funds or number of alumni that Purdue has and that should answer 75% of your question...
How could Nyland Green see the portal door if his back was to it?
Quite frankly, a fresh group is probably preferable. I'm not losing sleep over losing anyone from the worst school in football this season.
The talent level was minimal, and while that's probably not getting much better right away, you'll get players who know what they are stepping into and still willing to come. That should equate to full buy in.
The schedule lightning up should almost guarantee a better record which points the arrow up. Now, does Purdue football intend to put their money where it needs to go the next few seasons? That will go a long way to making the rebuild shorter or longer.
Are you anti- DEI? Some have been accused of the same for less......

I had seen a # that was a lot bigger than that, but it might be that my number included lower levels and yours is just Div 1. Crazy nonetheless.
2/3 of those that entered have signed. What kind of deductions can be made about those remaining unsigned? I don’t think you can make an across the board claim that those left unsigned are the bottom third of talent but the percentage of highly sought after players is definitely much lower.
Last year overall percent unsigned I think was around 50%. Some are late entries and in our case green, wingfield, m’ba, and smith. All will find homes. But most remaining likely will not.
Yes and if you are referring to the Purdue guys left in the portal the majority of them just entered a week ago or less so it’s hard telling where they’ll end up but most likely they won’t be coming back to Purdue after entering this late. Lewis and Crimmins have been in it for weeks now so they could be a maybe on a return. Brown just entered a couple days ago. Green and Smith probably had to wait on their checks to clear for the year before bolting to the portal. M’ba and Wingfield recently entered due to the new JUCO rule allowing JUCO guys to play more years in college.
