TC....TWO WINS. Maybe three at the max. Brohm is going to struggle greatly to turn this mess around in four years....if he can even do it then. That's your prediction.

I think their class with Latham and Allen was ranked a bit higher.New Pal, I didn't say it was a "great class". I said "it's their best in years".

Where are you seeing 5 wins? I'm afraid that we are going to begin 0-4.
As always, people over-estimate the length of time a program will be down with a good coach or the amount of damage done to a program. I still remember so many people on this board talking about how the sanctions at Penn State were going to bury that program in the bottom of the Big Ten for decades. What happened to all of that?
If Brohm is a good coach, he'll have this program back to bowl games in 2 or 3 years.
Consider we will play these teams EVERY year in conference:
Illinois
IU
Minnesota
Northwestern
Some years we will also get Maryland or Rutgers.
Then there is nonconference. Next year is pretty tough but we will probably always schedule a MAC team and if we go weak in the nonconference with the other two games those could be winnable games as well.
So in a year where we draw Rutgers in conference and schedule a little lighter non-conference schedule we could looking at 8 games that would be in play. It won't take a world beater to get 6 wins.
I know you've already reached the conclusion that he's not a good coach and you think the high school coach IU got is great but I think most people outside of Purdue and IU fans would challenge you on which is the better coach.

Brohm has been a good to decent coach in his three years on the job at WKU....where academics are less stringent than at PU. You mention Minny, and the're 8-4 and in a pretty decent bowl this year, and in a down year, Northwestern is also bowling at 6-6. Lovie's bringing in all
Minny is in a pretty good bowl this year at 8-4. NW is in a bowl in a down year at 6-6. IU is in a bowl at 6-6 with a good class coming next year and a lot of good players returning. The Illini have the 56th best class coming in...all three and four stars. Brohm is way behind, and though he won at WKU where academics are less than Purdue, and though a lot of his players recruited by former coaches...some were his...winning in the Big Ten is going to be so much tougher. It's a lot easier to win at a school like WKU. He says the right things, but he's never...NEVER...been on the big stage in a conference like the Big trying to recruit against the likes of MSU, U of M, Minny, OSU, PSU, Lovie next door and IU and ND in-state rivals. And all those coaches are way better known.
And I've never said IU got a great coach...but I did say he's got an in with Indiana HS coaches that Brohm doesn't. That's all I said. He may be better or he may not....or the both may be great....or they both may suck. There is no guarantee either will be able to do the job.
And don't overlook Rutgers who has the 31st best class coming in next fall. And Maryland....13th best class in '17. I respect your opinion(s) but will hold my excitement for Brohm and his "enthusiasm and catch phrases" until he proves that he's all that and a slice of bread. I actually hope you're right.
I'm not talking up anyone...just being real in evaluation of the situation.WKU probably could've made a bowl against our schedule this year. You can try to talk up these teams if you want but if we elevate Purdue to be even average we will have a shot at those games most every year. Some of them we were competitive with or even beat THIS year.

I do.Do you honestly think any of those teams are on track to be anything more than average?
Yes, reminds me of IU this past year. Play a sucky non conference schedule get a couple conference wins and you go bowlingAs always, people over-estimate the length of time a program will be down with a good coach or the amount of damage done to a program. IU won't be a win. Best recruiting class in years that even their new coach can't screw up.

Sorry, but Brohm ain't Mean Gene. And it's got nothing to do with WKU coaches.Wyoming wasn't a powerhouse nor did they play in a powerhouse conference, yet Joe Tiller got it done. The last Western Kentucky coach we hired won national coach of the year five times and is now in the College Basketball Hall of Fame.

Do you think next season will be like the 2nd half of this season? Improved play but still lacking talent for the win.Thinking 3. Hopefully 5. Patience boys and girls, patience.

I think with the different offensive approach, it'll help in the second half of games where Purdue ran thin. Against the upper level teams that have good depth like Iowa, Whisky, Nebraksa, UM, and Louisiville, it probably doesn't make a difference. But against teams like IU, Illinois, Rutgers, etc...his offense can wear down a teams DL and gain the control in the second half of games and allow Markell to control the clock.
I will disagree with Twin Degrees on one point. I provided a post on a different Purdue forum about Brohm's recruiting, and believe he will do a fine job. I looked at the players he signed, the players he targeted and the players he offered scholarship to. in the past 3 years at WKU, Brohm has gone head to head with many top 10 schools in the country for recruits. He has recruited the same players as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Miami, Louisville, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and several other powerhouse schools - mostly from the SEC. He has also recruited against Minnesota, Purdue, OSU, UW, IU, and Illinois from the Big 10. Admittedly, he lost most of his recruiting battles, but he won a couple. The fact is, he was not afraid to go after a player a powerhouse team was also after. Will he be able to win more of those battles as the head coach at Purdue? We will have to wait and see. But at least, he has a great eye for talent, and he's not afraid to go after that talent. He has about 8 weeks to add 8-10 players to our current recruiting class. What he does in those 8 weeks and who he ends up signing will be a good evaluation of his recruiting ability.
New Pal, I didn't say it was a "great class". I said "it's their best in years".
I doubt they end up in the 40s.They will end up in the 40s. This class will be better on the field than on paper. But they have had better classes on paper.
This is a tough schedule. Rutgers and Illinois look like the only reasonable shots and IL will have their first class of Lovie recruiting so that might even be a challenge.
If we look at the actual numbers, Rivals ranks Brohm's three recruiting classes at WKU like this:I will disagree with Twin Degrees on one point.
