I find it curious that IU and Purdue were included in his bowl projections and Maryland, Nebraska and Minn were not.

Admittedly, Minn, Nebraska and Maryland all have two tough games coming up and would all be expected to lose both of them..

if purdue were to go 5-7, would they accept a bowl invitation?

Yes, without a doubt they would. It give 15 more practices to underclassmen to further refine their talents along with getting recruits in to see coaches and practices. Their is a big upside to accepting the bowl offer.

Yup. It's not so much an award as it is an opportunity to get more practices, experience, and exposure.
