Texas Southern is 0-5. ESPN analytics gives them a 2% chance of winning, I have never seen that number so lopsided. Time to give these guys some experience and rest the starters for the coming physical game at NU.

I love how the non-conference schedule is constructed this year. This game comes at a great time before having to head up into a tough, hostile environment in Evanston to open the Big Ten season.

Actually want TKR and Furst to get 25 minutes each, Berg has to buy his time, Waddell is 12th man, hope they play 10-15 minutes.

I’ll add that I don’t think you go into the game with the mindset that this is a chance for the starters to rest. Start the game like you are still in Hawaii. Then, if and when you open up a substantial lead, start giving more time to the reserves. Purdue cannot have the mindset of letting small, less known schools hang around at all.

Exactly. Put the foot on the pedal and don’t let off. Try to hang 100 and obliterate them. Need this type of mindset. I think I’d pull edey and smith once the game was a comfy 20-25 pt lead in 2nd half. Then start to let others play more.

One would think if the coaches are serious about long term prep of Colvin & Heide both their minutes would be on the plus side of 20. As to the other 2 whatever the game allows.

Also like to see First/TKR combo a bit.

Agree 100% with this, good post!

I agree with starting the starters and go from there based on when the score blows out. I would not mind seeing Heide and Colvin playing some significant minutes with a few of the starters instead of just a group of subs.
Agreed…would like to see TKR and Furst get ample time.

Yeah, that mindset hasn't historically worked well.

Agree on this. I don’t see the benefit of playing Berg, and to a lesser extent BW, before the last 10 minutes of a lopsided game but would love to see Cam and Myles get a lot of run and Trey + Caleb, exactly as you described.

Agree the non-conference schedule is outstanding. I like how Arizona and Alabama will be a week apart with no games in-between. It would be cool to see Bankers Life sold out for the AZ game.

Also, that rugby match with Tennessee got them ready for anything NW will be able to throw at them physically. You never know how the first true road game will go, but I have a feeling the guys will have payback on their minds after that loss last year in Evanston.

They’ll be ready for NU but will the B1G refs actually call fouls??? I think that’s the big question 😂 😂
