This current staff is 2-23 against 1-A football teams. Now for the Purdue quality guys, this terrible record is statistically so unlikely as to suggest "special cause". In other words, there is something actively getting in the way of Purdue winning some games just due to random chance.
And I would assume that this is coaching. Then the interesting question is how was Hazell able to have success at Kent State if he was not a capable head coach. And again there must have been some sort of "special cause" that artificially inflated his record. Granted the sample size is small in that he was only there for two years.
Whatever the case, it appears that Burke has landed his second dud in a row in the head football coaching role at Purdue. Burke is now 1 for 3 in terms of hiring head football coaches with two terrible hires. He should not be allowed to try his luck again.
