Two experts react to Kammi's school of Economics, or failure of Econ 101.

DAVE RAMSEY:

It's not sustainable
because it's artificial. If you just put a lid on something and if you want to explore what really happens, just go back to the 1970s. We tried it. There was a whole movement for price controls across everything, because inflation was out of control and rampant, just like it is now. And so it's been tried. It does not work. What works is to flood the market with supply. Lots of oil means lower oil prices. Lots of labor means lower labor prices, lots of whatever means lower prices. It's a simple supply and demand curve. It's called economics, and it's called free market economics. When you insert government in it and try to artificially cramp it down, it simply does not work, because you can only hold that hose for so long until the pressure builds up, and then it blows on you.

An opinion piece in the New York Post

Kamala Harris facing backlash for ‘cost-capping’ price controls to curb inflation

A Harvard economist who worked in President Obama's administration ripped Vice President Kamala Harris' price control plan to curb inflation as not based in "reality."

"This is not sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality," Jason Furman told The New York Times in a report published Friday. "There’s no upside here, and there is some downside."

The Harris campaign announced on Wednesday she would institute a federal price-fixing plan for corporations, as president, to stop "big corporations" from taking advantage of consumers.

"There’s a big difference between fair pricing in competitive markets and excessive prices unrelated to the costs of doing business," the Harris campaign said in a statement. "Americans can see that difference in their grocery bills."

Judge Merchan’s charges had no basis

according to probably the two most acknowledged constitutional authorities…Jonathon Turley and Alan Dershowitz a while back and although it is a known fact that Merchan’s daughter worked for Kamala and Biden in 2020, but I don’t know about the 7.5 million. That seems like a lot of money, but I have no idea if “that” is the correct number but Clay Higgins of the house believes it is????

Comrade Harris’s far left socialist policies border on communism.

That’s because price-fixing is alreadyillegal. And it should be! It’s important to distinguish between real cartel behavior (whether among TV-makers or meatpackers) vs. temporary spikes in prices and profits due to high demand or supply-chain disruptions. Harris’s economic advisers are either too confused or lazy to tell the difference. They don’t seem to know the history of these kinds of policies and apparently haven’t thought very hard about what would make markets more competitive or improve the lives of voters.

The price of eggs in Dayton, Ohio

To show Kammi flunked econ 101....

To cap the price of eggs in Dayton, Ohio:
  • You must cap the price of fertilizer to grow the grain to feed the chickens to lay the eggs.
  • You must cap the price of fuel to transport the fertilizer, the grain and the eggs.
  • You must cap the price of wages for the truck drivers, grain farmers, egg farmers and supermarket workers.

You too can get a degree from the Harris School of Economics. Online or through your local post office. Just $25,000 per semester.

Results not guaranteed.

U.S. Olympic Basketball

I would like the Olympic team to be assembled of players who have not previously won a Gold medal. This would allow more players to experience this event.
It would probably be much more competitive and interesting. Durant going for his 4th gold medal, and LeBron his 3rd seems to get in the way of young players being offered the opportunity. 7 of the 11 players have already won at least 1. The US might not win under this scenario, but spreading this experience would mean a lot to other players.

Women’s Soccer opens their season with a 1-0 W over Washington State

I don’t know much about soccer except the basics but it was fun to watch the game tonight. It was a defensive battle with Purdue’s Senior Gracie Dunaway finally scoring with 14 mins left in the second half. Then Purdue withstood a furious effort by WSU to come back to tie the game. It is the first win for newly hired coach Richard Moodie.

Hopefully we follow this up with BIg Ten wins this year.
