We dodged a bullet on Catchings

I knew from the get-go that this kid was not coming to Purdue.
Don't know him personally, but seen his type before. "Me first."
Probably pissed his pants at the thought of having to play defense.
Would have been a cancer to team chemistry because I could not see him starting, with what we have coming back and the experience with it.
More than likely would have transferred at mid-season anyway when he realized Purdue is about the team and not about him.
I'll bet, truth be known, this is a load off CMP's back, not having to coddle him.
For him to back out this close to the start of practice, makes me think that he does not have a clue about what's going on.

We dodged a bullet.

Purdue football 80 Days to Purdue Football: Ryne Shackelford

Ryne Shackelford - Fr. (RS)
Elyria, OH (Keystone HS)
6', 180 pounds
Wide Receiver
2024 Projection: Reserve

Shackelford was a member of the 2023 recruiting class and spent last year as a redshirt, not playing in any games. He was his team's star in high school, however, leading them in receiving and rushing yards and touchdowns, going for 597 and 10 TDs through the air and 666 and 13 TDs on the ground.

Shackelford also has some very good athleticism. He was a three-time state champion in the long jump and was also a state champion in the 100 meters and 200 meters. That gives him a good dose of speed, which is always a great way to make it to the field.

He is still probably more of a depth player this season, but with that speed, who knows.

If He Ends Up at BYU the NCAA

Needs to investigate how his AAU coach and the player end up at the same college! Me thinks that there was some collusion between the three and not just a coincidence! Since he was signed no contact is allowed! Reminds me on two deals in the past Danny Manning and his Dad to Kansas and a player and his Coach from Canada, I believe, but I cannot remember the players name!

Purdue football 81 Days to Purdue Football: George Burhenn

George Burhenn - So.
McCordsville, IN (Mt. Vernon HS)
6'5", 225 pounds
Tight End
2024 Projection: Contributor

Burhenn played quite a bit last season asa true freshman, appearing in 11 games. He saved his best for last, however, with a huge game against Indiana to retain the Old Oaken bucket. In that game he had all five of his career receptions for 74 yards, including a 33 yard touchdown.

Like Drew Biber yesterday, Burhenn got a chance to shine against the Hoosiers because of injuries up the depth chart ahead of him. Garrett Miller and Max Klare were both out against Indiana, so Burhenn drew the start and made the most of it. That bodes well for 2024, as he will probably start the season near the top of the depth chart with the returning Klare. Given how coach Walters likes to use his tight ends that is a good thing.

In high school Burhenn won a class 4A state championship with Mt. Vernon HS in Fortville, IN. He had 38 catches for 784 yards and nine touchdowns through the air with 127 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in his senior season. He is also not just a big, lumbering tight end, either. As a senior he was the Indiana state champion in the 110-meter hurdles and was third in the 300 meter hurdles.

Expect a breakout year for Burhenn.

Biden FINALLY does something about immigration

Imagine that…Congress didn’t need to put a bill forward with a bunch of liberal “pork”

🤔

Thanks Donald J Trump for forcing the “sit on their ass” Biden Administration do finally do “something”.

But of course the hurricane winds have been blowing immigrants north from Mexico for 3+ years. I’m just waiting for Biden and the Democrats will to declare a national emergency versus shipping most of them back.
